JCR rant and recommendation

Not sure where to post this but I'll start here:

Lifted a 96 XJ for my boy last year, at which time I installed JCR subframe tie in kit and steering spacer, at a cost of $144.
This morning I called JCR and spoke with Cory (sp?) and started to order a rear bumper, rear tire carrier, hi lift mount, front bumper, but strips, and 1- ton steering upgrade. These parts in bare steel came out to $2524. I told Cory I already bought the tie- ins and spacer that come with the front bumper, and asked him to delete those and credit my $144. He said they had never done that but he would ask. Comes back on phone couple minutes later and says they can "keep" the parts I already have, but can not take the $144 off! Are you serious? So I can buy them again AND not get them? Holy sh*t!
So now, I'm looking for recommendations on good bumpers for XJ. And f*ck JCR. Their tie in kit and spacer will be removed and sold too

Yikes man cross posting this rant on multiple forums isn't going to get you an award (we can make one though...).

Have you thought of sending them an email with a copy of the invoice/receipt showing them that you actually already own the tie in kit and spacer? The guy obviously messed up but I imagine they will fulfill you order without billing you for parts you don't need when you can actually prove to them you aren't trying to short them.

A lot of companies have policies like that i.e., I bought a used airflow snorkel and wanted a template from them to mount it. Without a invoice/receipt proving I am the original owner Airflow won't send another template because they don't want people mounting second hand parts that fail then complain that their used parts broke.

Call again with the invoice and I bet they will make it work.

You want them to break open a kit and reduce the number of parts in it? Sell the extra parts online. Some other XJ owner might want them.

If you need 4 eggs for a recipe, do you take a dozen to the register, remove 8 and ask for a credit?

Usually you're more logical than this.

There's no harm in asking. They should have just said yes, or no. Telling OP that they would remove the parts from the kit, but still charge him was a slap in the face IMO.

Me, Logical, unpossible!!! I agree they should have just said no we can't do that and move on. OP is being extra winey in my book.

Honestly, I can kind of understand where you're at, but if the kit comes with the parts, and that is the only way that you can get it, then why not just sell them when you get them if you don't need them?

It isn't something to be shouting "FAWK YOU" about IMO.

I have had my fair share of being screwed by companies, and them not wanting to make right on their words after I've already bought their product.

But causing multiple threads over something like that is a bit over the top.

I can understand them not wanting to separate a package deal, but at the same time perhaps they could have handled it better as well.

OK, couple things here,

to keydet,:ha, wasn't looking for award, looking for ideas. Actually the other site had a couple recommendations, this site not one. My kid is moving soon and I'm in a rush to finish this for him. As for sending the receipt back, He had it in front of him. That was what was so mind boggling. Thanks for your input though.

beat95: I didn't ask anyone to open anything. They build the bumpers and add the tie in kit to the box. sorry you read it as whining. I was frustrated and I was looking for a little help finding an alternative.

I absolutely agree they should just be able to say yes or no. I own a business, I know how it works. And indirocz, as I said I was looking for a referral. I'm not aware of any limit to the internet, damn.

Anyway, JCR called me at the shop this afternoon, Same guy I spoke with yesterday. He was very polite, apologetic, and said they wanted to work it out and ran some numbers and agreed to not send duplicates and credit me $120. Great! Done Deal. I told him I was glad he called me back, I was ready to get a similar package from AMES but I think my boy will be happier with these. It's all good.

Thanks to those for trying to help
