NEW GUY

hey guys im new to this forum so hello to everyone
i have a 1999 XJ im doing a D44 swap and gonna run 37' tires. i need to replace my stock steering box and was gonna do the durango upgrade but read a few issues with being locked up in the front on bigger then 33' tires would cause an issue with not wanting to turn in some situations. Is anyone running something similar any thoughts? trying to make it to MOAB this year.

and before any one asks the D44s is a package deal for $3500

front: 5.38 ratio, E-lockers, ARB covers, RCV axles, C-gussets, sleeved tubes, with steering linkage. and 2 spyder lock bead lock wheels only a year old 17x10.

rear: 5.38 ratio, E-locker, Chromoly axles, ARB cover, trussed, disk brakes, 2 spyder lock bead lock wheels only a year old. 17x10

Why not just replace it with a standard XJ box?

You will want ram assist to run 37s and use it off road. either box is fine with ram assist, neither is fine without.

Run assist at 37's however in the temporary sense just switch the front locker off to help.

X2 on the Durango box or just buy the ram assist kit.

I just put ram assist on mine with 35"'s with the front locked and it was well worth the effort.
