Towing

How can i tell if my 96 Xj has a tow package?

If it doesn't, apparently it's towing capacity is about 2000. What would happen if I tried to tow a 3400 lb trailer with it's own 'pulse brakes?'

What rear diff does it have? D35, chy 8.25, or d44?

I was told the d44 were the high rated towing package axle.

factory tow package should be a Chrysler hitch and a rear sway bar on a 96, I have hauled that much with my cherokee once, 4 door BMW on a car dolley because i had too. I will say it was not smart but they will do it, the problem will arise when you put anything on that 3400lb trailer, even with surge brakes its gonna suck alot, and IDK if youre aware of how the hitch is attached to a cherokee but basically sandwiched 16ga steel is all thats holding it on.. good luck (buy a truck)
