Mopar Peformance ECU for 5.9 '98

Hello everyone,

Could someone confirm whether MOPAR Performance ECU for GC 5.9 '98 is covered by:

1. Summit Racing and Jegs : Mopar Performance P5153734AC https://www.jegs.com/i/Mopar-Perform...734AC/10002/-1

2. or P04876898 - another thread in other News Gropu forum https://www.nagca.com/forum/showpost...43&postcount=3

3. any other that fits 5.9 '98 ZJ/ZG

Many thanks for any feedback you may provide.

Rgds

You are better off going with something like this. Those PCM's have set perimeters while with the Syked you can tune as you go.

If the one sold by Jegs is the one pictured, it's the earlier OBD-1 SBEC, won't work in a 96+ OBD-2 vehicle.

I'd be worried about buying anything from syked as they are currently being sued by HPTuners and it's not looking good for them in the courts.

Although their support confirmed this would fit GC 5.9 '98 engine, I've asked once more to verify OBD issue.

Thx for the tip Marty.

I didn't know about that. That will suck if they do lose since HPT doesn't support older rigs.

https://www.courtlistener.com/docket...sykes-bonnett/

If you wanted to see what's going on. It's pretty ugly and the owner of sykes admitted to having information from HPT and destroying the evidence.

https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/...0468.172.1.pdf

Also it appears his customers are going to be getting roped into the lawsuit as well.

All verified with JEGS support:

"Mopar confirms this item is actually not available any longer, it was for the 360 MPI with Auto trans This is not a replacement for the 98 5.9"

Item #1 is a NO.

I'll have to sit down and read all this. Thanks for the info because I was looking at maybe buying the software from them.

Yes unless you can find a used one I don't know anywhere to get one anymore.

Your other options are to go with someone like this:

Hemifever

Or

Flyin Ryan Performance

Thx wildman4x4nut.

There is one more ECU from MOPAR that might fit 5.9 Magnum '98 - P5249935 (taken from MOPAR Perf parts catalogue).
Verification with JEGS is ongoing.

Has anyone used Flying Ryan recently? I tried to work with him a while ago, but we weren't able to connect. I have a street tune from another guy on my rig and I think it's too lean. Pings at partial throttle under load.

Unfortunately, according to Mopar Performance, they discontinued the one for 5.9 Jeep years ago. The only option would be to get 5.9 computer custom tuned.

Ryan did the tune on my TJ. I can point you in the right direction to find him if you want.
