CJ frame holes and Tow Hooks

Hello All.

This is partially tech, partially ranting. So I need some front recovery on my 84 CJ7. I bought some REESE hooks from Pep-Boys. These of course did not bolt on. So I call 4WD and they assure me their hooks will bolt on no problem. (They could not give me the distance between centers on the holes, the insureance that is would fit was becuase 2 od 128 had been returned) Anyways I get the hooks and of course they dont fit. So maybe there is something strange about my CJ. Take a look at the attached pic and let me know if the holes on your CJ are the same distance. The holes I have are roughly 1 7/8" Does anyone know of any hooks with this hole spacing? I would rather not go crazy modifying hooks and frame if I don't have to but I will.

Thanks,
Trent

same as mine...4 outa my 6, 1/2" winch bolts go through em,, ,had to drill mine out to work, but before hand they were same size. i would just drill a new set of holes for the hooks, and to be on the safe side back the bolt up with some 1/4" steel on the bottom side of the frame, it will make it harder to tear the holes out while tugging on them.
