ring and pinion question

Will a 4.10 ring and pinion out of an '89 axle fit in a '94 axle? I think it will but just want to make sure before I tear it apart. And I know an axle swap is easier but I have a mechanic that will do the installation for free and the other parts on the '94 axle are 5 years younger. The axles in question are D30 fronts from a YJ.

Those gears will swap but what gears are in the axle now? You may also need the carrier from the donor axle and you'll want/need to buy an intall kit. At the very least, you'll NEED shims, a crush sleeve, and marking compound. Depending on the age of the axle, you'll want to swap the carrier and pinion bearings as well. By the time you piece all the parts together, you might as well buy the master install kit. Any gear vendor will be able to get them what you need, just make sure you know what you're asking for.

thanks for the answer. I've got new carriers because of the carrier break and I do plan on getting the master install kits.
