Fitting 42's

I'm Doing a 14b/d60 swap, and i dont have the cheese to pay for a fuel cell yet so im SOL on stretching, I have 4 inch leaf springs with a 3 inch body lift and 2 inch shackle lift, if i use stock springs sprung over will i clear the 42's?

I really dont want to have to put 4 inch lift springs sprung over with all of this because of the flop formula but i will do what i have to to wheel until i can afford the stretch.....will cutting the fenders in the front pretty much off work out

basically has anyone done this before and what did they do

Thanks

Find some free XJ springs and flipem backwards, put the stock tank in the bed and cut the shizzle out of the fenders. No on the 4 inch spring over .

Stock YJ length + 42's = wheels like shit and flops on command....

Keep your 37's until you get the dinero for the stretch....and stretch it at least a foot to avoid wheelie city.....would advise trimming over massive lift, low COG makes for a much better rig....

Good luck on the swap

ok heres the idea im playing with......an almost free Stretch but first off will the XJsprings bolt into a revolver shackle and will the side that bolts up to the frame bolt into a YJ spring?

This is what im thinking about.......taking out the stock tank and putting it into the back of the jeep then cutting off the eyes of the YJ lift springs leaving a little of the spring on there and then welding them on my crossmember in the rear where the framerails T into the crossmember and bolting the revolver to the eye and the XJ spring to the Revolver.......Yes/no?

You could ditch the ARB and buy some useful swag. Those things are huge, sell it and buy some tube fenders and a shorty front bumper.

Haven't done the rear spring swap but BTF has a kit to weld on the rear of the frame that makes it look easy. I picked up som XJ springs for free. If you don't like the tank in the bed (I did it and it looks fine), just cut a hole in the be and move it up flush with the frame rails and build a box over it.

I put 42 iroks on my yj. Went with R.E. 1 1/2" spring over springs.I made tube fenders for the front and cut the rear fenders. Wheels great no problems with tipping. no stretching done on mine. The shorter wheels base is great for tight trails. try it before you stretch

Did you have a 2" shackle lift and 3" body lift?
