bought a jeep cherokee...

picked up a 98 cherokee sport 4x4 4.0 today with a blown motor for $500. shortly there after got a used motor complete with 89k miles for $800. other than that its bone stock where to start?

i want to keep it mild as i might drive it for a while and sell it as i have my toyota as a 4x4 so just looking to do a mild lift and stuff some 30-32" tires under it and have a fun toy if i decide to keep it.

what little mods wake these up power wise i cant seem to find much online
what upgrades can we pirate off other jeeps/vehicles?
tips and tricks to improve suspension on a budget for playing in the sand/mild rock crawling?

You should do a little (a lot) of reading on here and at Naxja.org. There's tons of information out there.

Yes. That would be the place to start.

But, since you posted it here, I'd suggest you go fuck a blender filled with gasoline and used hypodermic needles. Unless your dick is too short to contact the blending blades, in which case you should break off the glass container to the required height to facilitate the cutting of your scrotum while you fuck the blender. If your mangled dick isn't enough to stop you from reproducing, the sharp glass might give you a vasectomy. Or so we can only hope.

Have a nice day.

listen fuckstick what crawled up your ass and died this morning? no where does that section specify "hardcore tech" as there is a specific section that does. it just specifies cherokee's so you caneat shit and die so you stay out of my thread ok?

i am not a noob just one to jeeps specificaly xj's. i did use the search function but returned little results and read most of them. i was looking for more real world experience or something tailored to what i posted specifically.

i ended up geting the motor for $650 so the build is already a bit cheaper, and it looks well taken care of and real clean.

has anyone running a 2"-3" coil spacer and a set of shackles had any poor driving charistics? or would this setup be good with a set of 31" tires or should i stay a bit more mild and run only 30's

i plan on checking what gears i have tomorrow. but what did they typically come with?

Its the first thread in the Cherokee section by ashmanjeepxj. Its there you just have to read first, it takes some getting used to and some flamings & ass chewing. Dont sweat it people here love to flame the shit out of newbies. There is just a ton of questions like yours, so a lot of people get tired of the same questions being repeated. Nothing wrong with it just you can search for tons of questions chances are there is a thread about it.

Cherokee Tech Mission Statement and The Jeep Talk Bible (Read before posting)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The intent of this forum is to have a place to go for modified unibody questions that are of mid to hardcore level without having to search threw all the TJ, YJ, CJ tech type questions. Think of it as an advanced technical forum for unibody rigs.

What belongs in this forum?

TECH.

Here are some examples: major modifications and up-grades not normally purchased as a kit, but that require individual ingenuity, innovation, and perseverance in design. Unibody reinforcement, larger axle swaps, fitting big tires, JeepSpeed builds, fabbing 3 and 4 link suspensions, custom fabricated parts, non factory option drivetrain swaps, and other advanced/fabrication type questions.

The common theme here is fabrication, advanced technical information and questions.

What doesn't belong in this forum?

What Cherokee to buy, what size tire fits with a 3" lift, bolt ons, drivability issues, parts identification, troubleshooting stock electrical issues, or questions about budget boost kits and countless other things...

There is a Non-hardcore Jeep forum(flame free) in place here on this site and are many other sites with forums that are already available for stock, entry level and bolt on type questions.

Non Pirate4x4 hosted Cherokee related trail runs and events do not belong here, they are not tech. It is ok to post them in the Cherokee section but they will be moved with a re-direct to the correct regional forum or Competition and Events forum.

Think of this as a college level forum, so don't post kindergarten level and grade school topics here. Kindergarden and grade school questions belong in the Non-hardcore Jeep forum or on a different site.

This forum is for the the guys that think outside of the box, get their suntans at night from welding, put their blood and sweat into their builds, aren't afraid of the sawzall, and enjoy building parts instead of buying them.
