help me identify my cj5 broken tranny, got more info now...

i have an 81 cj5, 6 cyl 4 spd. trying to figure out what tranny i need to get to replace my cracked in half one....

heres the info i got..

it has the shifter handle thats bent, not a straight handle. ford stamped on the tranny case, borg warner stamped on teh shifter plate.

dana c300-15-2 transfer case, steel case. thats the dana 300 right?

the tranny, you have to press down for reverse, its a 4 speed

13-32-097-902
13-32-065-905
10 spline front shaft and the rear shaft is like 23 or so splines.

due to this page, i have come to the compclusion that it is the jeep sr4 transmission...
am i correct?

Well if that's the numbers you have on the case, yep I would say it's an SR4.
Like the article says, it's not that desireable, it's a car tranny in a Jeep. Get out your wallet for some upgrades unless your just using it as a commuter.
If your just going to put another SR4 back in (easiest) it should be a cheap fix, (no demand for the SR4)

it is just gonna be a d.d. for now. something to putt around town with no top on. i have my blazer that i wheel and my girl has a tj on 35's to wheel. so an sr4 tranny is all i want then.

at least seek out a t-176. the SR4 should never have come behind anything except a 4cyl

A T4 or T5 will bolt right in as a replacement, they are the same length as that turd. Neither is a great trans but both are much, much better than the SR4.

Don't waste your time with the T4/T5. Look for at the minimum a T176.
