Hotwiring '90 4.0 XJ ?

Should be simple enough

My ignition switch is gone and the stearing column "casing" is fawked.
I can still start it just fine with a pair of pliers tho.

I want to set up en external ign switch that breaks the main power to the oem ign switch. Figure i could just leave the old switch "on" and use a "off", "on", "start" switch in series with it.

This chart has me a bit puzzled though :

Do i really need the switch to make the ground connection or could i just leave those hardwired?

Ground is usually just a key sense wire. I'd leave it unhooked, if it's connected with the ignition off you will have the damn door buzzer going off

Makes me wonder if they're for some sort of relay connection, since they only connect in the "start" position.
I'm just concerned i'll fuck up some sensor or computer shit messing with this..

According to this the Park brake switch and engine coolant temp sensor are grounded when the key is in the "start" position

Still have no fawkin idea wtf that ground connection crap at "start" is supposed to do.

I just wired a killswitch in the thick red wire and a pushbutton start switch from red to dark green. Fired right up
