My sons CJ5 Rebuild

We built a nice CJ5 for my son who trying to impress the girls rolled it at a high speed (no drinking, just girls with partially covered titties). It's been a three year project to bring it back together as a trust worthy trail rig. Some of the reason for it taking so long is because he had to pay for every part out of his pocket with a small income. I just helped with the tools, labor and tech.

Here it is after the roll over

Here it is during the tub, frame, front clip build

Here it is after a rattle can paint job and a 36 pack.

This last part was done using boneyard materials and parts. Got a 88 Cherokee for $350 that had a D44 rear and non-vacuum high pinion D30. Both had 4:88 gears and lock rite lockers. We cut a part the front D30 (driver side drop) flipped the shafts and retubed making it a passenager side drop high pinion 30. (sold the Cherokee for scrap at $300)

Started with this

Finished with this. (Ididn't pick the blue color)

Here it is in the jeep

I know why put the effort into a D30, it cost $50 for the D44 and D30 with gears and lockers, the new axle tubes are scrap 3" x 3/8" walled tube. Outside of some elbow grease, $120 in new ball joints (since we had it torn down this far) and paint it was a very low budget build. Overall this was a fun project. We are playing around with a 3/4 elliptical suspension for the rear next with a litle stretch.

I know, but it's what he wanted and he paid for the paint and beer to do it. I offered up trucker girl stenils that he could have used for the camo pattern but he was talked out of it by hs girl friend.
