Spent a little time and built a full float D44 to replace the D41. I've been collecting parts for a year or two now. Finally decided to do something with it all.

Wrapped up the floater project.

Also redid nearly the entire TBI system on the crawler. No pics. The Holley TBI unit served well for years, but was giving me some fits. So I went back to a stock GM unit.

I think both rigs are ready for the season. I can't remember the last time I was ready this early.....

A lot has happened in these last six months. We are in the process of moving from Massachusetts to Maryland. Job transfer/promotion came into play earlier this year and it was something I just couldn't pass up. I've spent the last few weeks moving rigs south to the new shop.

So here's a shot of the Jeeps in their new home.

And here's the preview of the next project to add to this thread. We are bringing it south this morning to add to the collection.

late 60's CJ5

glass body and nose
3.8 even fire
SM465
D300
D30 front with a lock-rite
D44 flanged rear (unknown on locker status)
Some nice late 70/early 80's bits and pieces

Step one will be just to get her safe and reliable. Then make it a beach rig, light wheeling rig. More to come once we are all settled in......

So now that things have settled a bit from the move, I can actually start working on this project.

So over the weekend I pretty much disassembled the Jeep. There is some goofy work that needs to be corrected on the chassis. So I figure this is the easiest way to accomplish that.

Anyway.....status as of today.

It's ZEP absorbent stuff. Tried it out for the the first time. Works pretty good. Easier than the clay based absorbent.

Made some progress.

Straightened out the mess of a steering box mount. Then I made some drainage holes for the rad mount. And lastly capped the bumper. It'll eventually be an air tank.

Still plugging away on the 5. Turns out the frame was rougher than I thought. The rear section was pretty bad. After a close look it was pretty obvious that the rear bumper set up was poorly installed onto some suspect rails.

So I ended up cutting away about 8 inches of the frame and rebuilding it. The hokey bump stops were removed as were all the unneeded frame brackets. I also welded on the correct spring hangers for the rear.

It's been a pain. But now I've got some good bones to work with and things should come together quicker now.
