This is a Killer Cage Design! It would be cool to add a little old school flare to it for a Willys. I think the hard part would be to keep it from looking so modern!

I would have some reservation of tilting the B-pillar back THAT much.

Are you trying to run it all the way to the floor or will it go to the top of the wheel tub?

Looks good. I prefer option 1 I like the look of the back covered. I have a quick question on your old build On the steering you left the tierod under the leave springs which is how I'm set up right now And the drag link going to the passenger side high steer did you use the hole closest to the grill or the back hole and were the two bars stacked on top of each other or separated a little? if i use the front hole the drag link is directly over the tierod. I just cruised through all your pictures to see if I could get a look at it but to hard to tell. I'm hoping you could remember. I'm trying to set my steering box thanks!

Too funny, I was just about to type the same thing, but I hit the update button and saw you got there about 2 min before me.

I was wondering about that angle too. Looks sweet. Also what about the front window? Are you planning on leaning it back as well to get it to match?

It`s just the draw....definitely needs to be less angled.
Most likely to the top of the fender.

If the "A" and "B" Pillar Bars were to follow the angle of the stock windshield I think it would be plenty strong. The drawing makes them look really laid back.

If I`m not wrong I think the drag link was stacked almost on top of the tie rod.
This is the only pic I found...hope it helps (yeah, those shitty nuts were replaced with some good ones later)

Thank you.

Here in the U.S. we tend to give each other a hard time regarding questioning, both in fun and intentional provocation. I use the term 'dumb question' proceeding the actual question to hopefully 'disarm' any possible said provocation . If you've ever been in the GCC forum you know what I mean !

Now back to the build; Excellent cage design you picked there. Very nice!

Is the entire cage going to go through the floorboard and be tied into the chassis? Or maybe just the two main cage hoops?

The build continues to look great!

Those pick ups work real good with the check valves in them. It would be real cool to combine 2 kits so you have a pickup in each corner of the tank, this would ensure a constant feed in all off camber situations. The only other addition I would put in would be some fuel cell foam to stop the slosh.

Ok, now into the comments....as you see, I got the fuel cell and seats yesterday. The airline raped me with the freight, but I did not have a choice...the Jeep needs to be running in 5 more weeks.
Very happy with how the cell fitted...theres more than enough space left to put a small bench seat for my kids.
As far as the seats goes, it was like going back on time with my old MB ...its feels good to have them again.
I dont have pics, but at the end of the day we had the steering linkage almost done.
The plan was to start the cage yesterday, but we need to move the Jeep to another shop for that and it was raining...I dont want to see my chassis all rusted
I took off the next 2 weeks to work only in the Jeep....hopefully we will have good progress.

By following this thread you will get all your answers I'd say....

So far it looks like a longer wheelebase and more power with better axles is what's been changed from his last one.

Along with more up travel in the suspension for the front....maybe the rear too?

Oh and sway bars front and rear.

If you fuckers actually took a second to read the words rather than knee jerk reacting to the pics, you might have a clue what his plan is.

You nailed it !
In this order....

Better front suspension (mostly up travel)
Longer WB for better ride and handling (big power and short WB is not a good combo)
Stronger Tranny and T Case

Honestly speaking, the axles are just a whim....I only broke once with the D44s and it was a stock front axle shaft. Then I installed Chromo Moly in all 4 corners and never had a problem.

The power from my old MB was good enough for 90% of the time. The huge dunes in the Atacama Desert suck any hp of your motor....that and the fact that this MB will weight more made me go for a bigger powerplant.
Anyway.....I am installing just a massaged LQ9 for now, because I need to have the jeep running in 4 more weeks and this engine was laying around.
I organized our own version of the Ultimate Adventure, called Twisted Andes Adventure, which it will be held next september. The LSX 454 will be swapped in after the event.
