Off to a good start.

I'm going to add the JCR bomb proof spindle and I'm thinking a bear claw latch (similar to a Poison Spyder rear bumper) for the swing out spare tire carrier.

Any thoughts?

Great Idea Dan. I would lower the gate down and have some weight on it to see where it sits in relation to the top of the bumper just in case there is sag. Are you going to run the factory license plate mechanism that folds out when the tail gate is down?

Looks good..
I want to wrap the rear bumper around the sides similar to the stock "banana" to give the corners a little protection.

The carrier I built for my WJ uses the spindle and a simple latch..

Just some food for thought...

Thanks for the ideas, no real updates yet. Other than I got some new turn indicators

I saw this one on the oldwillys forum and like the basic shape...
Still think I want mine to wrap around the sides of the body.

My spare wheel and tire are heavy. The next part of this build should be fun

Thank you!
Haven't sold it, didn't try too hard.

Haven't worked much on the bumper but I did replace the fuel rail system with the Fast. I'll get back to the bumper soon.

So, do you want to build me a rear bumper for my wagon?

Thanks bud!

I've got the spindle braced up, hopefully I can spend some time tomorrow and work on the latch. The tailgate is so wide, it's dictating the placement of the latch and spindle.

It looks like she has a smile to her

Dan when I read something about your wagon getting sold I immediately thought of organizing an intervention

The bumper looks great!

I don't know where you live, but here in Maine I'd be worried that snow would get in that and freeze up making it lock up.

I appreciate all tips, thanks Skip. I don't want mud in there either. I plan to box it all in at the end. Just trying to get the position so I can cut some tubing.

38 x 14.5 x 17" It was really your tires that made them look like twins, I used to have your same tires.

Looks good. Why use a bronco chassis, then scrap the drivetrain and suspension?

Because I started out with one plan then everything changes over time. Upgrade fever or something. Stupid, I know...

It swings, but not too happy with the look of it. I might try one more top bar shorter with a tighter bend on top then some little bends on the sides. Leaving room for a jack and maybe some rotopax. Out of time for now.
