Stock willys rear spring packs and stock YJ packs up front w/one leaf added, flexes good. Yes, 35's Right now just stock open dif 3:5 R&P's.
All I did was flip the axles, instant 6" of lift/clearance.

I have an odd question. I have recently purchased a 1953 willys truck with the hurricane engine. I cannot find the oil filter. Did some of these come without them??

WOW!!! I'd like to see some pictures of a 429 (or any BB engine) shoe horned into the engine bay of one of these!!!

The 350 SBC in the engine bay of our '49 P/U seems to take up all the available real estate. . .

Extended cab..pretty cool. I would appreciate the extra leg room.

Quite a big extension to the cab there. Any idea how much?
What frame is it running as it is not stock that is for sure?
Be great to see a build thread on this on the Old Willys Forum.

The engine fits pretty well, it is back set 4" into the cab and the front axle is 6" forward of stock. This puts the engine behind the axle and helps with weight distribution. The cab was extended 18" using wagon body parts. Stock frame with tube front horns.

Will be posting a build after I collect some parts to get started.

Here is my '61 Willys truck project. It was a Christmas gift from my wife in 2013. Here it is on our car dolly headed home from Maine to Vermont in a snow storm, what could possibly go wrong?

"You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel!"

Yep, guess I should have brought my old POS trailer rather than the car dolly. Fortunately there was a hotel just down the street from where the tire/wheel departed. Jumped on Craigslist and located a trailer for sale and went and bought it in the morning, stuck the wheel back on and loaded the truck and dolly.

One of the PO's had dropped a SBC 307 into the '61 torching a hole in the firewall and mating it to the original T90.
I bought an SM420 with a Dana 300 adapter from another Pirate member and have a ff 14 bolt that will go in the rear and I am contemplating narrowing the long side of a W150 Dana 44 and swapping on the outers from the 10 bolt front that came out of the truck that donated the 14 bolt.
All the cool old Willys trucks and wagons in this thread are great inspiration!

I'm not sure this is extreme, but it was for me at the time. It has a 283 and turbo 400 with dodge axles.

Looks very neat. What type of paint and colour is that? Looks great.

Thanks, I'm glad you guys like it. The paint is DuPont from about ten years ago. The colors are for Lexus. I think it was Bronzemist and Desert Sand Mica.
The wagon has been on the road for four or five years at least, and it took over twelve years to put together. I was too busy building it to learn how to use the computer, same goes for my CJ2A. Now that I have some free time I am trying to figure this out. I do have lots of pics.
Here's the engine bay.

Thanks for the reply. Couldn't find anything to match those paint criteria for the Lexus Bronzemist, so if you find any more info, be much appreciated.

Further research on the color has turned up nothing. Bronzemist is all I remember of that. The actual prep and paint is the one thing I farmed out. That is a long and boring story, but the guy said with two tone paint that he liked to put a little bit of each color into the other color. Said it brings the two colors together. He was supposed to give me repeatable formulas but he didn't. Wish I knew more!

Went through the whole thread and didn't see any FCs? Aren't those considered Willys?

Anyway, here's my project, FC-170 / 1961. Starting point:

Name: IMG_1578.jpg
Views: 1282
Size: 98.1 KB

Current status:

Name: WP_20160624_10_30_58_Pro.jpg
Views: 1283
Size: 67.7 KBName: WP_20160624_10_30_42_Pro.jpg

Size: 63.3 KBName: WP_20160624_10_31_13_Pro.jpg
Views: 1241
Size: 58.1 KB

Stock motor L6-226 / Super Hurricane + T90 + D18 & Dana44 + Dana53.

Biggest things still to do after I have passed MOT:
- hydraulic winch to front (Mile marker Type R)
- swap T90 to T98
- swap Danas to Volvo C303 portal axles
- Creepy Crawlers 38.5/14.5-16 or 35/16-16 boggers with beadlocks once the portals are in place
