When you get to Wrights lake there will be a small information building on the left at a stop sign, drive past it approx. 1000' on the left is a nice parkin' lot. This late in the year there should be plenty of space. We will all meet up in the parkin' lot. The trail head is 3/4 mile up the road.

Night time conditions may be in the 30ds I will be bringing a small load of split pine firewood if everybody can throw a few pieces of wood in we can have a nice campfire.

I have gotten so used to no fires allowed, I was going to bring the campfire-in-a- can (propane), technically a bbq, that is legal during fire restrictions. I'll check this week on any restrictions. Also looks good for my brother, Sam, with his Commando.

A guy from my club told me I'll have a hard time on this trail. I told him good I like a challenge. Hope I don't hold anyone up!
Oh and I picked up a bottle of Buffalo Trace at Costco today.

V6, granny low, 2 lockers, doesn't get any better, unless there is bourbon in camp...

Perfect, glad I picked up the Buffalo Trace!
Need to replace my water pump, old one is off and the new one is on the way. I guess after 24 years it was probably due.

So I have to say.....impossible I can make it.
Would entail taking days off in conjunction with that weekend.

I'm taking my last kid up to college ( hallelujah !) the following weekend so have to take off for that....so I'm out.

I can't hear my FT-60 when the jeep is running either. I'm looking forward to seeing Rodney's setup.

Still planning to make this trip but had a bad week last week. A garage run in (literally) If I make the trip this might be a good campfire story. Needed a new water pump, no problem. Get one and install but did not realize there are long and short, I need a short one but get a long one. Take off the long one and get the short one yesterday. Install is going great until I break a bolt. Hope to get the bolt out today and get the water pump installed. Updates to follow.

I hope it's just what we wanted, a quick shot to settle the dust and fire danger. With warm and dry in the forecast, I think it will stay open, it was like 3/4 inch of water. Sun is out now and it is beautiful. Still no campfire restrictions also. I'll watch the Hi Landers site for any news.

As much as I hate having to write this I have to bail yet again. My junk is still apart and I am slammed at work. I am going to watch this closely for updates from this year and the date for next year.

That's BS Jeff, fix your rig, we got about 3/4" of rain this week the trail will be badass, If you can't make it Friday morning my kid will be doing a night run Saturday, he said about 5 PM, we'll be sittin' around the fire when you get there, and you better have some Buffalo Trace left.

My friends that were going in on Thursday backed out. They are now going to Deer Valley. They said it was snowing at Barrett. What is the best weather area to check for Barrett? I was Looking at Kyburz and south Tahoe. Looks like it should be in the 70s for Friday Saturday and Sunday and cool at night. I just loaded the Willy’s other than food. I’m going to run and pick up some soup Incase it gets cold .

Edit: I think I am going to strap my cots on top of my rig to keep us off the ground!

Ha ha, I loaded my tent cot and 0 degree sleeping bag yesterday. I don't think there was enough rain to close the trail, there will be moist soil on top and powder 1" down. I've been there in a storm before, since Barrett is in a half bowl the thunder echoes, and swirls around, it sounds pretty cool. That was a weekday trip by myself, the Highlanders were coming in to sweep the area and close the trail. It's an awesome trail with 1" of hail on it.

I'd recommend bringing an extra tarp just in case of a lingering thunderhead passing by.

I have three friends / rigs that are going to come in on Saturday, they should be to the lake between 12-1. They will not be camping, just coming in to hangout and head home that night.

Edit: Hope you don't mind that we hijacked your build thread and turned it into the calendar event thread!
