2004 Ford Super Duty F-250 axles

I have been offered a set of super duty axles for my J20. They axles are setup correctly for my build.

Any warning that I should be aware of with these axles?

Anyone have any experience with them?

Any limitation on a j20?

When you say "set up correctly for my J20".... ?

Make sure the front is a 60, to the extent you think it is anyway. A lot of those era of superdutys have 50's. To the untrained eye, the 50 and the 60 can be hard to tell apart as they have the same 8 lug outers: hubs, brakes, etc.

From my research, the D50 stopped in 2003 and it should be a Dana 60 in 2004. I am still going to check for some ID to be sure.

As far as the setup I need a drivers side drop for my transfer case and the gearing is already 4.10 which is good for my rig as well.

It came stock with leaf springs like I am using on my truck.

I have looked into it alot this evening and it appears you can go manual locking hubs as well. Outside of the axle width which i might need to measure to see how that compares to the chevy axles I have now.

There are two quick and easy ways to tell if it's a 60 vs. a 50.
The first is the pinion nut will be 1 5/16" on a 60
The second is to look at the sticker on the rear surface of the passenger side axle tube. It should say 248 on it. 9.75"x25.4=248mm ring gear.
There was a blend of D50 and 60 used up thru 03. In 04 they should all be 60.

They're great axles with decent after market support. Run'em!

The 50's are literally cast with a 50 on the top.

Pre 2005 Dana 60s can be hard to install crossover steering arms.
