I think it's the one we did, but instead of turning right and looping back to the wash we went left and came out up on the ridge next to the exit of Claw and down to the exit road where the roads from Claw and Wrecking Ball meet.

Picture of updated KML file. Put in access roads in yellow and added a few trails along with straiightening the routes to stay on the ground instead of the canyon walls.

You need to share that file with us for "peer review".

+1

I have the older (circa 2012) editions, but if there is a newer version out there, let's pass it around so we can update our GPS/tablets.

Thanks

If someone wants to host the file, I can send it to them.

This is the 03 Rubi's file, all compliments to him. I loaded it into google maps and it has more than 2k rows and 10 layers so it throws an error and only imports that amount. It would have to be split into multiple files to get past that. The other one has the same issue. I haven't imported into Google Earth but it should be fine there.

You may have to convert the file with GPSVisualizer to Google Maps for it to load. Works fine with Google Earth, will load as a KML file to Back Country Navigator and retain color coding others may have to convert to a GPX file but will probably lose the color coding depending on your GPS. Lowrance will load as either GPX or USR, both will lose color coding but you can re-set colors on the unit.

Thanks 03 Rubi and Stafford!

I couldn't post it because I am working with CartoTracks on a similar map that will be for sale soon. Posting this would have been a conflict of interest. Yes, I realize that folks that know how to use this file would probably not buy the map anyway!

Happy New Year all!

GPX version available here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nw0zrou5oh...%20v2.gpx?dl=0

Publicly viewable map here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?m...Gg&usp=sharing

It did lose all the colors, I'll prioritize fixing that right behind finally editing all my GoPro video.

Yes. CartoTracks is going to have the course available again this year. They are also working on a Non-KOH version of their map series for Johnson Valley.

any news on a sand hollow map? been asking them for over year. but glad they are at it again for koh. using the race course map helped finding the main trails during the week last year.

We're working on establishing a schedule for our 2016 data collections.
Busy times for us.
Sand Hollow has been rising rapidly in our priority list.

When is your trip again?
Weren't you the one that e-mailed us?

We've been getting hammered with requests.

Yup I emailed you regarding it, a group of us are looking to go in mid April this year and with the trail hero event possibly again in October as well.

May have some new developments on that front coming to us tomorrow. Don't have any specifics just yet but know it's not out of our minds for sure! Lots going on.

I went to Rock Crawling events there at about that time. I do not know if any were the "original" ARCA event. The Master's Course area is also known as "The ARCA Pile" and "ARCA Rocks".

The first Rock Crawling competition that I went to was in 2000 or 2001 and was held in Wrecking Ball canyon. I do not remember the sanctioning body.

I heard that some ARCA events were held out on the other end of JV at Cougar Buttes. Can you drive from Hammertown on the lakebed and get out to Cougar? Anyone have GPS info for that area? Thanks.
