More Land for JV? SB 1289

Since its "Lobby Day" 2014 and our folks are up in Sacramento, I thought I'd drop this bit of information.

Quote:
SENATE BILL No. 1289

Introduced by Senator Fuller
February 21, 2014

An act to add Section 5090.42 to the Public Resources Code, relating
to off-highway motor vehicle recreation.

Legislative Counselís Digest: SB 1289, as introduced, Fuller. Off-highway motor vehicle recreation:land transfer.

The Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Act of 2003 provides
for the acquisition, operation, and funding of state vehicular recreation
areas and trails within the state park system, and establishes the Division
of Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation in the Department of Parks
and Recreation. The act imposes certain duties and responsibilities on
the division with respect to off-highway motor vehicle recreation.
Existing law also vests with the State Lands Commission control over
the disposition, management, and control of specified state lands.
This bill would authorize the State Lands Commission to transfer to
the department certain parcels of land owned by the state that are
adjacent to the Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area,
described as ______________, for use for off-highway vehicle
recreation.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes.

State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

line 1 SECTION 1. Section 5090.42 is added to the Public Resources
line 2 Code, to read:

line 1 5090.42. Notwithstanding any other law, the State Lands
line 2 Commission may transfer to the department certain parcels of land
line 3 owned by the state that are adjacent to the Johnson Valley
line 4 Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area, as_________________,
line 5 for use for off-highway motor vehicle recreation.

In Common English, please.

More Information

The attachment to this post will show some blue squares. These are State lands.

This is the map the Senator is looking at. Disregard any boundary drawn, they are there for reference only. CORVA has been working closely with both the Senator and the OHV Division since the bill was introduced.

You are correct. District 37 AMA removed essentially the same thread from its forum because the President received "complaints" about the thread.

Seems that a couple of folks within D-37 are butt hurt due to the fact that CORVA has been involved in this legislative effort working with the Senator's staff and OHV Division since the announcement on February 21st.

So, I have no way to post the picture on this forum.

If someone can do it, I'll send it to them via e-mail.

If you only knew the "behind the scenes" of many of our "OHV leadership", you will find many more disgusting things that have gone on or are still going on.
