Question Joshua Tree?

Has anyone been to any of these areas just south of JV?

I came across this map and see all the markers and it makes me wonder what all is there. Most interested in the "Shooting areas"

I have a house uo the north west side of that hill. I'll have the dirt bike out that way next weekend if you would like me to check it out for ya. If you're not opposed to a public range I hear good things about the 29 palms pistol and rifle club.

I am not opposed to a range but Shooting in the dessert is always fun.

Still need to look into the legality obviously.

I grew up there and still hunt Dove and Quail there once or twice a year. It is public land, open to the public. There are some great rock trails, sand hill climbs/bowls and an open dry lake.

When I was a kid there was a 100 yard sand bowl about 100' deep full of tumble weeds. If you've never seen a tumble weed burn, dry christmas trees have nothing on a tumble weed. My brothers and I lit the side and thought we were going to die. 200' flames and us trying to run out of a sand bowl.

Shooting wise, there really isn't a better deal than 29 Palms Rifle and Pistol. $50 yearly membership, get your own key, overhead cover and decent ranges.
