BLM/KOH and Gov shutdown

They just passed a CR till Feb 8th (right in the middle of KOH) So....what impact would a shutdown have on KOH if it happens on the 8th? Will the BLM employees that work the event be sent home? If so can the event continue?

Itís public land. There are no gates so it will remain open. Sheriff and CHP will probably pick up the slack if there are no Rangers.

I thought there had to be BLM reps there at all times to make sure we are abiding by our permits....

Also, not completely true. It's not public land for the week, it's Dave Cole's land. He has an exclusive use permit from the BLM. The Rangers back him up and will remove people if needed. It's really the only way to run the race safely.

Note that:

* Employees exempt from government shutdown are; Those employees who are engaged in law enforcement and those employees who are needed to protect life and property.

* events scheduled within 48 hours of the onset of the shutdown will
be allowed to proceed. Certain events operating under approved special use permits with a cost recovery provision may continue. If BLM staff support for the event is required, those employees may temporarily be placed on the excepted list for the duration of the event.
