Smile BLM Trail Closures Defeated in Arizona

The people of Arizona are celebrating a victory!

Upon massive opposition, the Bureau of Land Management has called off all travel management plans. Multiple anonymous sources within the BLM confirm there will be NO MORE trail closures! Between 2016 and 2019 over 25,000 miles of trails were planned to be decommissioned, blocked and wiped off the map.

Several clubs, organizations, and individuals joined together to preserve access for millions of Arizona residence. We brought to light many things that were never questioned. Our in-depth research, collective cooperation, and muscle of law proved to be hard work but paid off in the end.

Arizona Backcountry Explorers website

Submitting comments online was difficult. So we created a website where individuals could submit comments, read information, and educate themselves with the knowledge to send a factual, concrete comment opposing trail closures. Our website resulted in thousands of comments submitted to BLM on three separate travel management plans.

Many individuals simply didn't want to hassle with it, didn't know why this was happening or couldn't understand the details. We broke it down to a 5th-grade level so anyone could understand. We engaged in aggressive social media marketing campaigns. Some of our articles received over 10,000 page views overnight. Our community got pissed. They could now understand why this was happening.

The formation of the Mohave OHV Initiative

The Kingman Travel Management Plan was the straw that broke the camels back. It gained attention from organizations in Utah and was mentioned in a Utah based TV show called The County Seat. I was contacted by a reporter via telephone and did an interview. It brought massive opposition from over the state line.

Rocks and Wheels 4x4 club based out of Kingman, Arizona formed the Mohave OHV Initiative. They closely studied the proposed trail closures paying close attention to the trails BLM was keeping open. What they found was even further deception then we imagined.

Using BLM's own map, they discovered trails that were washed out, non-existent and have been so for many years. Many of the trails BLM proposed to keep open, didn't exist. We were left wondering, how many miles are they actually closing? This was proof BLM didn't have the data to support the findings of the Environment Impact Assesment.

It's been a glorious victory!

I have been contacted by several members from Pirate 4x4. Many of you are wondering where the information can be found. For SEO purposes, I have retracted all the information on the site.

However, I'm currently working on another website where I will make this information available.

We will use this website nationwide! Instead of focusing on just Arizona, We will focus on the entire US.
