Oceano Dunes (Pismo) Ca

Anyone else see this? I received an email from Cal 4 Wheel. I have been going to Pismo since I was a kid.

ACTION NEEDED: Oceano could close forever

The Coastal Commission just released their staff report for the upcoming meeting on Thursday, July 11

The staff report is now available on the Commission’s webpage here:
https://www.coastal.ca.gov/meetings/agenda/#/2019/7

The California Coastal Commission Staff is recommending closure of the Oceano Dunes SVRA:

“In short, the status quo at ODSVRA is clearly not sustainable and it is time to more fully understand and evaluate other public access and recreation options that are consistent with coastal resource protections given the current realities that affect and are affected by OHV activities at this shoreline location. Put simply, in staff’s view a Park that is fully consistent with on-the-ground realities, and with coastal resource protection requirements, does not include OHV use. Rather, it is clear to staff that the significant coastal resource issues and constraints attributable to OHV use render long-term OHV use at this location untenable.”

Coastal Commission has provided an email address where people can send their comments: [email protected]

The report is for the next California Coastal Commission meeting to be held on Thursday, July 11 at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo.

We need comment letters submitted to the Coastal Commission before July 8th.

We need club members, friends and anyone who enjoys Oceano Dunes SVRA to write a comment letter and attend the CCC meeting and speak out against anymore closures.

This really could be the end of the park as we know it. We need to flood the Coastal Commissions with comment letters support the park and make sure the room is packed the July 11th Coastal Commission Meeting.

Please share this information with anyone who will listen.

The time to act is NOW... or risk seeing it close forever...

Just more "junk" science that the eco freaks are using to shut it down. Sand blows whether there are people playing on the dunes or not. I have had a few very miserable weekends there in the past due to wind and sand that had nothing at all to do with someone driving.

I guess Pismo's economy is tired of the $243 million/year revenue from Oceano Dunes visitors.

The meeting finally ended. The Commission voted 8-2 in favor of giving OHMVR an additional year to produce a draft PWP (public works plan). No closure for at least a year. OHMVR has got to get their part done.
My observation: There were very few comments on the actual Staff Recommendations by the public. A common topic during the first rounds of comments was NO input gathered from the local community or local governments.

Here we go again! Sorry for the late notice.

From Cal 4 Wheel:
Public hearing November 18 on Oceano
We need everyone to attend and offer comments at a public hearing regarding the Oceano Dunes particulate emissions reduction efforts.

The other side has been very busy on social media and the internet publishing stories that blame the Oceano Dunes SVRA for all the dust control issues, saying that the park needs to be closed immediately.

Meeting information:
Monday, November 18, 2019, 9AM
South County Regional Center
800 W. Branch St.
Arroyo Grande, CA

For more information about the meeting, go to this link:
