XC bike: '04 KHS XC204 frame, built up myself with all kinda cool bling such as X7/X9/XT driveline stuff, a bunch of Ritchey parts, and Avid mechs.

"beater": '02 Trek 4300, driveline upgraded, but mostly older parts, circa 1998 LX cranks, similarly old XT rear derailleur. Still 3x8.

Looking to get a roadie. Wouldn't mind having a FR bike to play around on either.

Sad? not at all!
Some would say the same about simply putting money into a 4x4 that ur going to end up thrashing, they just don't get it!
Same people don't get a $200.00 car with a $400.00 roof rack and a $3000.00 bike on top of that

Money spent on fitness is not thrown away... as long as you use it!

ps: nice bike & rig!

True, I guess it's all about what you get out of it...And thanks for the compliment, the rig still needs some work, but by the summer it should be done.

I've had a few through the years. I've cut the herd down.

The original flock.

Mongoose Expert comp bmx race bike, S&M Sabbath freestyle, Sette Shadow DJ build, Schwinn World roadie, Giant Trance X, random hardrock frame.

I upgraded recently to this Spot Rocker SS.

It comes equipped with this.

I work for Oskar Blues Brewery. The owner started a bike company called REEB (beer backwards) after working for the brewery for 2 years he hands you a bike.

So my current ride is a REEB All mountain 29er.

Check them out at REEBcycles.com

Picking up a Specialized Hardrock Sport. Can't wait to start riding! It's their bottom line 29er but it has hydraulic discs and the fork has a lockout on it. Should be a good starting point for upgrades when I want them.

2012 Specialized Hardrock Disc 29. Been a really good bike. I've had it almost two years and nothing has broke. It needs new pedals, but everything else is working great. It has far exceeded my expectations.
