'97 f150 on rocks, supercharged build!

Figured I'd start a build thread, and have a place to ask questions for when I can't find the answer I'm looking for searching.

Stock got it in '02... 4.6, e-fans, Cold air intake

put a bodylift on a few months after getting it, and a year later i made a BGT out of it.

dana 60 front and rear 5.38 gears with a spool in the rear, 49's on 16.5x16

Put it in some deep stuff and it was a bitch wouldn't creep over 1'700rpms

plans are 2.5tons with a S/C 5.4 putting out around 550/650 (boost only) to the wheels and some spray.

from '04-'10 it was pulled out on the land and sat, i just got the bug to get back into the mud.

Now fast forward the whole year and i'll show you some parts i've accumulated and where i'm at with the truck.

Trucks stripped, anything not needed was gotten rid of, evap, egr, a/c, abs, horns, wire

upper link mounts,

patooyees pinion brakes

Tearing down the 5.4 for a forged rotating assembly
planning on running 18-20#s of boost

Aeromotive fuel rails, ported s/c and gasket matched lower/upper plenums and t/b, 2# upper pulley
I don't like the t/b nitrous plate thats on it, probably go with one above the lower intake and below the s/c

T.E.A stageIII heads, Crower stageII cams, 125# springs

Ok heres a question for ya'll

I have a 4r100 to go behind my 5.4

I have a 2600 stall, and plan on getting a VB, with a stgIII rebuild kit,

Which will cost me about the same as going TH400, I'd need to get a hardened input shaft and a JW ultrabell and flex plate, but it will also be around 125lbs lighter.

And I don't care about OD

Which tranny should i go with?

have some wilwood superlites for the pinion brakes, hope they don't flex too much. If so i'll just get some 86 toy calipers

running -4an brake lines, no abs, stock master and booster for now.

interior '00 harley

summit 20 gal cell with sender

dropped 80lbs dropping the stock tank, and got it out of the way
also consisting of the fuel system is, -8a return, -10 feed and 60lb injectors

Front clip, dropped 60lbs ditching the bumper

Yeah...some cool parts for the weirdo modular motor. So...Harley I've got to ask the question...Why not a BBF & really make some HP? Lovin the FOMOCO build in the MUD section. Not a hater by any means brother. Here's my Pro tuned 11.8 CR 429 makin' about 450 HP.

Killer build man - a screaming supercharger is what the mud pit is missing! Nice to see a modular build, and one hell of one at that!

plug the silencers and put a cog kit on that eaton if you really want it to scream. ported eaton is good for about 18psi or so, anything over that it loses efficiency. If your gonna be spraying it, you NEED to have a wideband air/fuel gauge and stay out of the pedal if it ever gets below 50F. alot of guys have grenaded that motor with poor tuning/cold weather.

my 2 cents from owning a lightning. looks like its gonna be a beast
...subscribed.

I haven't thought much on cogs, but that is somthing i need to get. i'm gonna have hella belt slip.

as far as the silencer holes go,
never saw a reason to plug up the silencer holes(with no performance gain)just to open it when you port it.
It does make it sound sick though

I have an '03 Harley with a 4# lower on my street tune thats around the 400 mark, i was actually piecing this motor together for it and decided to throw it in the big truck since i was changing axles, links and lift i wanted it all to be badass

my '03 Harley

most people that granade their blocks are pushing the factory crap rods to far, the hold about 450hp.

Big79'terry the idea of a 460 with an 8.71 is not out of the question... just not in the plans at this time, maybe when it goes full tube

photobucket is screwing me over,

my transfercase finally showed up divorced ford np205, so i ordered up 3) 1410 yokes for the case and 2) 1410 flange for the rocks from Jess at High Angle

Also took my steering box apart and tapped it for hydro assist, need to do that other mod that west texas has posted up.

I'll try to get some pics up shortly

A few things done,

Tore my box down to drill and tap it for assist.

Drilled and tapped, and put back together.

https://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...ight=line+lock

What gave me the inspiration...

Also got my Rods and pistons together, with ARP Hardware

Difference between ford powdered shit, to some forged H-beams...

got my 1410 yokes from Jess, and plan on twin sticking my case in the next few days.

This top shaft and another the same size are the tubes I'll be using for the drivelines, need to go to the JY and get some driveshaft ends (1410) to make my driveshafts...

No one has any (1410) ends they want to get rid of do they?

Last got the motor torn down and took to the machine shop to get freshend up.

Its on leafs... So what? Obviously his rear shackle angle looks like total shit because theres no weight in the truck. Give the guy a brake. Im sure he realizes that in order to get all that power to the ground, he's gonna have to have a more solid setup ie- traction bars, links, truss, etc.

Im pretty sure he mentioned somewhere going to links and it being all badass and shit anyways...

OP- Great start. Keep it coming.

73-87 chevy 12"lift springs
97-04 ford F150 10" lift springs..... Or anybody for that matter, Cheap.!.

No I plan on 16 or 18" F.O.A coilovers,

i love my 460 but why would he do any of what you just said????? he'll be way over 450hp, Its efi, he has overdrive and a 429 won't turn the rpm's that a 5.4 will. If he does the dohc swap he's stepping into 10' shelby super snake 750hp warrantied territory. i don't see how you can really compare????

Lower links

Front and rear. Planning on setting everything up/T&T with a solid rear and hydro assist. Then I'll go rear steer/full hydro.

I trimmed the front down so it wouldn't look so damn big/Euro can't complain with free though

Taking the bedsides off the bed

kinda been toying the idea of dovetailing it alittle whenever I make the frame for the bedsides?

the battery mount, also in the bed will be the radiator, fuel cell, NX bottle, and a few army boxes.

Sanding a few parts down to get ready to spray them

Couldn't tell ya why, but i'm more excited about these than.....

Took my ex-cab windows to get some lexan cut and i'll rivet it to the frames, got rid of the glass, brackets and flippers

I'm trying too, the only thing that won't be done right... Is the 23.1x25 r2's I plan on getting. I know my shafts will be breaking like tooth picks, but i haven't decided if I want to run OE 2" shafts or do portal outers. Like invinite did.

I'll probably just run the 52's for awhile until I get everything fine tuned (shocks and motor)

I think you mean planetary outers - and those are cool axles you are talking about.

With the 2" shafts the u joints a diff become the weak link. With planetary hubs, there is an increase in weight and fabrication complexity. I am not sure which is cheaper, but they are both cool in my books.

I could probably do that. I'm not in a big rush. still collecting parts for my build. but let me know when you have them out.

Looks like you have everything figured out on your truck. Looks like its gonna be pretty bad ass. can't wait to see it finished
