Oil Pan Mods and Paint

I have a steel oil pan to mod.
It currently has some black factory paint of some type, on the inside.

Do I paint the inside one once welded up? Or leave it bare steel?
If paint, what type?
Or epoxy coat it inside?

I don't need chitty paint flaking off plugging up oil galleries.........

I would wire wheel around the edges of your fix so that the old pains doesn't flake and wouldnt add more paint. But in reality a flake or two isnt going to hurt anything

Get all the paint out that you can.

I'd be more worried about the paint going through the bearings than the galleys.

The galleries should be fine though

Who paints the inside of a pan to begin with?

I'd hit it with paint stripper and remove every last bit.
