Both Superior and Yukon have those axles in stock. Yukon even offer's complete inner/outer axle packages with super joints.

In my experience even the 78-79 inners are build to order so not typically a shorter lead time or cost then customs unless you plan to run junkyard shafts and not alloys.
If you set the king pin at the correct width, and if you have enough spline engagement at the carrier.... you also need to worry about the seal location is it the same as factory d60 shafts?
The factory shafts neck down except where the oil seal is.

I have the ruffstuff housing and a currie HP center section with gears sitting in my garage, and both were screaming deals. I just bought a set of shafts off here, all I need is the inner/outer knuckles and hubs now and I'll be set.
I don't know what your saying about the coil mount? The 78-79 style HP60 is the best in regards to having the longer drivers side axle tube, but it doesn't matter considering the ruffstuff housing is all steel so I can weld anywhere.
I personally think the only way to build a 609 is to match some stock length, so you can get used stock shafts or off the shelf upgrades instead of having to get customs every time you break something. I picked up a stock set for now because I can't imagine I'll have problems with 36"s.

Why not just run a 60? Save yourself a bunch of time & money....
Also, on the short drivers side tube, that style center section might not leave you enough tube exposed to weld your coil mounts too? Not sure, what's the benefits your after using the Ruff Stuff center? How is it better than a 60?
Just seems like a lot of work, using stock 60 shafts... Just build up a 60 man.

60 vs 9" carrier width when building a 609 front?
So I'm going to be building a Ruffstuff 609 front to 78-9 Ford HP60 width so I can use stock shafts. I don't have all the peices to do this comparison myself, and I haven't seen the info anywhere on the internet so I'm coming here.
The overall question is, is a 35 spl 9" carrier narrower/wider/the same as a 60 carrier in regards to spline placement? The effect this has on building the axle is: when measuring to place the inner knuckles on the tube, will it end up being the exact same width as one of the ford HP60"s I'm talking about or do you have to modify it slightly to make sure the splines fully engage the carrier etc etc? Or is the difference negligible and just run em the same?
