DE Jeeper Yea i know our truck was a 3 axle truck. But know that its a 2 axle truck they used the info on the tag to determine gvwr at 31k. My data tag also has a spot for a 4th axle that is blank.

My point being that i have a manufacture data tag rating the truck up to a certain weight and axle config. If u try to uprate the capacity of a 3500 with no manufacture info im not sure the dmv will allow u to increase the gvwr. I know in DE i cant register my truck or a trailer over the the manufacture #s on the data plate, even if i add an axle.

care to post a picture? if it is a Peterbilt label and not body mfg, i suspect that your truck was originally three axles (front and tandem rear) and the GVW is listed for front, intermediate, and rear.

I can tell you for sure that current labels do not show GVW for optional axle content.

DE Jeeper Our '86 359 pete shows gvw for the truck for 1,2 or 3 axles. Its listed as "chart" on the data tag and thats how my dmv was able to rate the toter when getting it titled.

No direct experience with this but it might not be that easy. Our pete has gvw tag with 3 differernt axle options from the factory. It clearly shows what u can be with 1,2 or 3 axles. I doubt any of that info exists for a 1 ton chassis.
Does it show three different gvw's or does it show axle weights for each axle? I've looked at door tags on a couple Macks and a Kenworth today, every one I can remember looking at listed a weight for each axle and left a blank spot for any axle the truck didn't come with.

Regardless, upfitters can slap a new door tag on it. I doubt OP will find somebody willing to take on the liability to do it to his clusterfuck, but it's theoretically possible.

As of posting my first reply I have re weighed my entire set up
My truck and camper loaded is around 12,400. Then my crawler and trailer adjusted for correct tongue weight puts the truck at 12,760, with total at around
#18,660
