toy4x4ota Glad you had fun out there, looks like your truck was working good

dfowlkes It was very easy once I figured it out. That whole line is fun

YotaAtieToo The 2nd pic is butt crack. It's the back door of moon rocks.

It's fun to watch because it can be really easy to impossible depending on your rig. I've seen $50k+ rigs that can not make it no matter how many times they try. I've also seen a yj with a rear locker and 33s drive right up it.

The rigs that do well are either really narrow or really wide. Something about being in the middle can make it a lot harder.

Rubirunner85 I was there one 2010.... I think. That was it for me. Lots of craziness in the desert. Freezing at night, snow. High wind during the day. Wheelin was nice, people, are the reason I never returned.

I went last year and there was a lot of Leo's around. It wasn't too bad. Now before that I went every year from about 06-12. Went from maybe 1000 people to totally insane, like trailers all the way down to Winnemucca. 2012 was the year a dude pulled out a gun and got his face beat in

10' of snow might slow you down a little

Moonrocks is a blast. It's the roughest place on parts ever, it's like 24 grit sand paper.

dfowlkes Thanks guys. Going to hit the moonrocks tomorrow. Looks bitchin. I'm with my father in law and he is in a side by side son the rubicon is out

Last I heard it still has a bit of snow on it. Hit up randy and see if he will show you some spots, hell he might even take you in his buggy. His shops in gardenerville.

dfowlkes Will be here until Saturday. I heard there are some other local spots besides moon rocks?
03-31-2019 08:12 AM
toy4x4ota How long are you gonna be around? My rig is down right now but I could probably head out there at some point.

dfowlkes So I am in reno for the week and drug the fruggy along. Plan to hit the moon rocks at some point. Any locals plan to be out there this week/weekend that want to wheel and show a fellow pirate around?

Also, you might want to read up on the 9" arb. I heave been told by many people that they are extremely weak. They may have fixed it by now, I have no idea.

14 Bolt Full Float Axle Spindles - RuffStuff Specialties

To be clear, I have nothing against unit bearings, I looked at doing the same outters on my 60 rear, but it just got costly so quick. Heck the unit bearings alone are ~$400 ea.

Who makes off the shelf double ended shafts?

I ended up doing this kit.

https://www.amazon.com/Yukon-YA-TD60.../dp/B0078U9CKY

Definitely no where near as beefy as full float and chromo shafts, but honestly I've never broke a rear 30 spline shaft, so I think I'll be good. I figure if I do, I might just send one off to Dutchman or something to be copied in 4340.

The one thing that kinda sucks is that I had the same plan as you. I was going to run the Toyota front with the bigger rear, so the axle is 62" wide (widest you can go with that kit anyway) Well now that I've got a 60 front, I'm going to have to run 2" spacers in the rear and still be 3.5" narrower than the front. It's not a huge deal but if I were to drop the money, I'd want a 65-67" wide rear which will be tough to work with a Toyota front.

I'm actually very impressed with the abuse it can take
