So here's what I got from the thread.
I am switching to geico so I can get liability on my green sticker buggy
I already knew you get a ticket on that road I saw it happen on a pbb cleanup. So that's why I bought a 4x4 diesel so I can drop truck and trailer in the spillway.
Do not stir up stuff with local police it will easily spill over into the other agencies. I treat them with kitten gloves and nothing but respect. Next time you fight a ticket keep it civil and quiet.
Get a reality check this instance alone can easily indirectly close the road to the trail effectively closing the trail. 'nuff said

Truck Drivers NEED TO LOOK INTO A DIFFERENT JOB IF YOU CAN BE FIRED AT ANYTIME FOR 1 TICKET

I seriously do not belive that at all.
Also more then 1 way into the trail

Sirg2424 I have been watching this thread for some time now. Congrats on getting it knocked down. I was wondering if the Judge asked for proof of insurance, or if that even came up?
12-08-2010 08:10 AM
UGET IT Judge probably reduced the fine amount due to the no signage issue. The remaining fine amount was based on the citation and related Code regardless of the signage.

Pretty cool he knocked it down. Now hopefully the word it out to minimize this happening in the future.

I was going to ask that question...what was the judges reasoning for reducing the fine so much?

Update on the signs

The signs are not up and probably won't go up until the spring sometime when we can get to the areas where they need to be placed. RTF will continue to work with the County DOT on this and try to ensure that they are comprehesive and easy to understand.

Ticket ???

Sorry you got fined and got the point. The fine is especially painful right before christmas. Is the problem now fixed or are there some other issues that need to be addressed. With the new signage will the CVC sections be clear, or less confusing to the masses. Can we close this thread???

I am a fairly consrvative person in regards to a lot of things. I dont believe in big government but I do belive a person has to be responsible for their own actions. I dont belive in my mommy didnt love me enough when I was a baby as an excuse. If you are an adult you are responsible for your own actions.PERIOD. If you are violating the laws that were set up to protect the masses from the few. Buck up and pay up or fight it in court. When I was a PO I lost very few cases because I was very fair and reasonable and honest. My Grandad who was a PO said to me" The only way to win every time is to be totally honest everytime whether you win the case or lose it you still win because when you walk out you told the truth and not a version of the truth. If this PO is overzealous in his interpretation of the law or is untruthful it will come back to haunt them

We'll be fighting together to keep it open for you, man... sometimes it takes someone from the outside to remind us not to get focused on the once-in-a-while stuff, and to keep our eye out for the awesome scenery, 'wheeling, camping, and cameraderie that's always around us.

indy242003 I don't live any where near the rubicon trail, but have had seen some over active law enforcement. 99% of them are good guys, and are just like you and me. Some times you will run into one of them that flips the script, and seems to be a royal pain. I always wanted to load up my rig and roll out west to wheel some of the places out there. There is a ton of crazy rules that we don't have to abide by (wheels out past fenders, green sticker, red sticker, smog, ect.) here. I don't have a big say in what goes on over on that coast and my opinion may not matter much, but I hate to see wheelers battling with law enforcement. I hope the situation with this officer works out, and we do a better job of riding to the rules and regulations, and they do a better job of educating us, and weeding through the ignorant (not knowing) to punish the criminals. I hope this thread stays alive just to inform the general wheeling public. If this guy (Ken) is by the book. Know that he is, and have your ducks in a row. It will make life better for everyone. You never know, he may have had to deal with 10 other people before you that were riding completely irreponsibly. It doesn't give him the right to judge, but it is human nature when you deal with people being out of line all day. I see both sides of it, and I just hope it comes to a good solution. Yeah, and just remember, you guys are the lucky ones. You have some of the most awesome places to ride in the world! Good luck guys, and maybe I'll see you out there one day. I'll be the guy that can't quit smiling.

Bebe No, I don't think locking threads are going to produce the result you desire, I think just not feeding the trolls by staying out of it will get rid of it the right way.

For the record, I don't see anything here that doesn't pertain to the overall Rubicon experience. Plenty of threads have been brought about because of the acts of Officer Marcus. I have said to Kenny and others, "Take it to court and let the Judge sort it out". We have no right to censor folks who come here to bring it to our attention and or make a complaint, or to seek assistance. It is the Internet. Complaining is what is done.

I honestly feel like you mis read Martin and Craigs posts.

As far as trying to curb opinions and perspectives (ie debate) for fear that the "agencies" may see them here, and somehow form a undesirable opinion of us - Oh Well. If it's not illegal, it's just an opinion. They need to be professional and be able to use their 'filters' as well. If they cannot do that on their own then they are not our partners, they are looking for an excuse. For the record I don't think that is the case.

Why don't you ask the agencies to not read pirate because you don't want them to get the "wrong impression". Instead you assume control over the people who use this forum. Manage what is manageable. I hope you don't really mean it that way. I agree with the no swearing, PG13 stuff, but anything else is fair game if it relates to the Rubicon in this forum.

Where's the warning for the two posts above?

I've conducted myself in a respectful fashion with both you and jascar and have never insulted either of you. Yet insults come my way.

Time for chit chat yet?

Most people here can debate in a respectful manner. If that's not going to be upheld, or enforced selectively - then chit chat is the place where everyone can let it all out.
Agreed that jascar using jack wad was too personal. I immediately thought of that commercial where the drill sergeant is playing a therapist......made it a funny for me, sorry I did not take it the way you did.

I thought then and still am sure that you were putting out information at that time that was not correct. That was quite some time ago and something I have put in my past. I learned ages ago that the internet is not a place to get too tied up emotionally with folks one does not know. I know we will meet again out on the Rubicon and it will be good. I know you are a good family man and that you have an Honest, good heart and it is in the right place. If we spent more time together I know we could be fast friends.
