jesusgatos | Sorry, haven't been on here much in a long time. Finished hydromax conversion and 95% of deuce restoration, but then the govt started releasing 5-tons so switched over to that platform. Deuce will end up getting sold or turned into some kinda ratrod or something, doesn't really have any purpose anymore, so not sure. Would make a fun driver with that LDS, especially at 1/2 the weight of a stock deuce, if chopped it up.

jesusgatos | Haven't had much time or money to work on any of these projects since we bought land, but we're finally getting settled. Almost finished with my old 66 chevy, that'll be back on the road soon. Also pulled the front axle out from under my FJ80 truggy to widen the housing and rework the front suspension. Plan is to finish the motorhome is next on the list, but will probably end up having to sell it. Maybe just part it out, sell the box separately, or on top of another running deuce of 5-ton. If anyone is interested in whole or parts, let me know...

Looking to buy 5-10+ acres of land in CA. Budget is $300k with up to $100k cash to put down up front, ideally owner would finance balance. Ready to buy right now. Not a investor/developer or grower, just want to buy some land where I can build/live off-grid. Have had to move 4-5 times in the last few years, mostly because of problems with zoning and code enforcement related to a large collection of military vehicles and heavy equipment. Currently in Gilroy and would prefer to stick around this area if at all possible. Anywhere out around Mt. Madonna, Redwood Retreat, Casa Loma, Loma Chiquita, Summit, etc. would be ideal. Santa Cruz mtns would be okay, willing to look at anything up toward Boulder Creek or down the coast a ways further too. Would also consider relocating to Grass Valley / Nevada City area if we found the right piece of property out there, but farmers are paying stupid money for land right now and don't wanna chase that bubble. |

Greg_Volkman | Dang...i just spent the better part of the day reading this. Have to say, I dig the original white mah duece, would have loved to have seen the camper with the original rack go on there. I just retired from the military after 20 years and live not too far from you, Jesse (I am in Yuba City). Can't wait to see what you might do with some of the surplus from today's inventory when it comes to public auction (some of our MRAPS are pretty cool). I share your love of sailing, I hope to do what your grandfather did one day, when the kids are grown and out of the house.

Jesse, I've been wanting to ask you about the sand blasted frame. Any regrets as to blasting all the parts together. Sand in the brake drums, etc. I'm wanting to do the same, but worried about the grit. Any thoughts. Very enjoyable tread, thanks for posting. |

I'd make the ugliest fence imaginable. Posts, cable and those lovely blue tarps. Maybe reinforce it with some orange plastic snow fence. |
