HammerdownJustin Yep front a little under 900 or a hair over depending what is bolted to it with brakes...stripped down about 650....rear is around 500 with brakes i believe its been awhile..might be 550...i know minus brakes about 400 to 450 for a rear..6 lug is 2.5ton and 5 ton would be 10 lug which is still great but then you are looking at 1200lbs for a front with brakes and 1000 for a rear with brakes..

jpmassey The weight of a rockwell with and without drum brakes is probably mentioned in at least 30 different threads on this site.

rockwell weight and brakes question

local scrapyard has a couple of rockwell axles they will sell me for $.20 a pound. Guy said they had 3 layin around but i only saw one rear axle.
I didnt think to count how many lug nuts it had cause i was trying to get out of there asap, but im pretty sure they are 2.5 ton, looked for a tag but they were covered in grime and grease.

My question is how much does a 2.5 weigh with brakes and without? Seems to vary where you look but it seems to be 800 with brakes???

Also how hard is it to remove the brakes? What tools are needed? If i can get them off there that would be less weight i am paying for
