51 Jeep Willys Its going back under the knife to be 4 linked in the front. Gonna move my 18" sways to the front and used some 16" fox's in the rear. Only reason im moving the sways up front is because they hold more fluid and will keep the body roll down with the most of the weight of the ftoy in the front(atleast that is the thought behind it, some of the wiser ones can chime in on that). sold the krawlers/h2s and going to run 42's/h1s. Not gonna recenter the h1s, just gonna get me a set of 2" wheel spacers. Im hoping i can get the frame down to about 20"-22" off the ground. Right now in the pics its sitting at 24" to the frame and im afraid thats where it might have to end up, but if it does then oh well. Plus i am moving the front axle forward about 3" to give me a overall wheelbase of 110"-112", i think its sitting at 108" right now. In the pic the rear is sitting on the 42 so thats about where the tire is gonna run at ride height. I would like to run about 3-4" of up travel and leave about 5" between the tire and chassis.

51 Jeep Willys Took it wheeling today to test out the 4 link. Now i cant hardly wait to link the front after riding in it with the rear linked. Got a couple things to do before the Hot Springs trip for the Hog Wild Shootout. Have to replace the front pinion seal and cut down part of the front dshaft. i forgot to cut it down before today and it was bottoming out pretty good. Just glad i didnt break anything to do with the tcases.

i really want to build a steering 14 bolt for the front, but might just cancel that plan and just use the 60.

51 Jeep Willys thanks to the help of a buddy, i got my rear shocks charged and drove it down the street finally on its own weight. even did a little flex test down in a ditch. now im just gonna pull a leaf out the front to level it a little bit more then call it good till i link the front.

i also added a "glove box" to it.

51 Jeep Willys rolled it out of the garage today to sweep and decided to test flex it.

51 Jeep Willys here is a pic to show how wide it is now. i love the stance of a skinny chassis with a wide stance.

roqtoy looking good, im glad that 4 link is working out for you.

51 Jeep Willys The front is back on the 39s and sitting on its own weight. This is the ride height for now Intel i 3 link the front.
11-23-2012 07:57 AM
51 Jeep Willys got the front back down sitting on it own weight

got the 4 link mocked up and tacked together then did a text flex.

right now my wheelbase is sitting at 108 but im gonna push the front out 2" to make it 110.

and my 4 year old son has been begging to go with me so i messed around lastnight and was seeing how good i can get him strapped in a seat. Once i put the seat back in ill make him sit in it and see how good and tight i can get him strapped in.

51 Jeep Willys got an update. gave it a new paint job and gonna throw some tons under it. got a dodge dana 60 for the front, a shaved 14 bolt in the rear. got the dodge since its only a 1/2" wider than the 14 bolt. TG 4 link kit in the rear with 18" air shocks and gonna leave the front on leaves for now. going full hydro. Eventually gonna 3 link the front using the 14" coilovers ive got but i dont want to be down very long.

fourwheelerjeff i got some 39's on mine, but they aren't the magical tires
06-07-2012 04:54 PM
51 Jeep Willys Ya I'm at 105 and 37s. But wouldn't mine trying some 39's. But like you said I gonna wait till I can find a good deal on them.

why would you run the 39's on leafs and not links?

I don't feel like I need links for 39's. I'd run them for ground clearance. Not that 107" wheelbase and 36's and a low center of gravity has hurt much.

I'll grab 39's if I can find a set for a steal; it's not enough of a "need to" to buy some at full retail.

If I wanted to go fast like chvyhs, I'd go links and coilovers. Coils are easier to tune for weight bias than leaves--not that it can't be done with leaves, either.

chvyhs Link it!

I wish I would have linked mine a long time ago. When I can afford to link the front I will.

tired of hearing the leafs pop back into place after having it flexed.
no desire to go any faster....it is called rock crawling not rock hauling ass
