Lil'John For my conversion, I swapped the chevy NP203 version output shaft into caddy 400. I also swapped out the clutches, etc for around $80.

The only issue I would see with the adapter you are looking at is the potential of not having the pump shaft put enough spline into the torque converter.... thus adding a slight risk of breaking something.

OTOH, I'm probably yanking the 400 for a manual so I'm not overly concerned about longevity of the 400

Do you think this adapter is stout enough for a trail rig or is it too flimsy

I got a Chev th400/204 I was going to put behind my caddy mill, but I was goint to swap output shafts, but for the $$ for new gaskets for the tranny it would be the same as the adapter.
