Look for the thread on the GM bump stops. They are pretty cheap if you order them from GMParts.com (or whatever it is, find thread). Reviews are they are cheap and hold up a TON better than most aftermarket ones.
I have a set for the racer, just haven't gotten to putting them on yet. Combination of lazy, reduced season this year and needing to build a whole new truck......
I like the idea of the bump-stop can and putting the stop on the end of a piece of tube. Might steal that.....

When you mock those up, don't forget to mock them up so the bumps are collapsed. Those air gaps will collapse under weight. If you need them taller you could add spacer plates between the bump and mount. Of course that would only get you an extra 1/2" or so before you ran out of threaded stud on the bump.

or if you are really on budget just weld a bung insert on some tube, and a bolt onto the bump stop.

grab a bump can,
set it up as a bump would be,
use a piece of tube in place of bumpstop, with one of these on the end.
you can adjust the height in the can, and it will be in place when the time/$$ allows for a proper bump stop.

I've seen a thread where the guy used large piece of all thread to make adjustable. And then ones diy4x makes.
weld on adjustable bump stop

|elf_cruiser||Well the shocks should be the last thing you figure out. Make the bumpstops where they need to be to prevent axle hitting frame, driveshaft hitting frame/trans, and control arms hitting anything else. Then set your springs up for the desired ride height. Then measure and purchase shocks that will work with all of that...|

|plug ugly||Im trying to set it up so I dont blow the shocks.... The shocks are 14's and the coils will stuff more than the shocks. Figured having something adjustable now, would be easier than redoing it IF i go to a longer shock. Also seemed the easiest way to get it just right with whatever shock I am running.|

|Muttrk||I'm guessing that he is sick of changing the bump stop set up every time something else changes in his other set ups|

|elf_cruiser||Why would you ever want less than the maximum amount of uptravel?|

Looking for some ideas on making my bumpstops adjustable.
Was thinking you could sleeve tube and pin it at 1/2 inch or so increments. Was thinking some sort of all thread would be the preferred option, but it would have to be a prety good diameter wouldnt it? Im guessing that would drive the cost up and require some locating.
Trying to keep some room for mounting brake lines too
What have you come up with?
Here is what I am working with.
