this is how the OBA is plumbed in to the engine air system. the hose marked with the green arrows comes off the intake manifold and goes under the runners, cut a little section out and put the white T from dave'z in there. the blue arrows show where air goes when the compressor is switched on. seeing as it robs some air after the MAF sensor, does it mess with the engine idle? it's barely noticeable, even when the engine is cold, also the check engine light never comes on as a result. so why mess with success?
the red arrow is the discharge of the compressor. you can see it is clamped to an aluminum pipe, this pipe is what you have to carefully extract from the stock AC hose for both the suction and discharge.
in to the air tank under the bed. i added a t-fitting to get the pressure switch out of the way. i used the two side ports of the tank for air take offs, plugged the lowest hole for a drain that i open up once a year.
air take off from one of the side ports, 90 degree elbow fitting i bought to avoid kinking the hose.

You could have both A/C and OBA, if you install another compressor!
The A/C system runs Freon through the compressor, so unless you want very warm A/C, or Freon filling your tires, NO it can't run double duty out of one pump.

|porterwagner||tahahahaha!!! What an old thread. It made me think though, has anybody been able to use the compressor pump for BOTH OBA and for AC in the truck?? I did the AC pump mod to some of my old trucks and it worked awesome for filling up the tires. Now i'm rockin the viair and it works great, but I can't idle it up to keep up with my friends with their toyota pumps. I have AC in my truck and everyones jealous come summer time!!! I'm o.k. with my set up being a little slower, but I was just curious if theres a way to double duty it, not at the same time of course. just wondering. way to keep a thread alive!!!|

the only stuff you'll need to pick up is some heater hose, and extra fittings to suit your installation. you T in to the engine air intake as to basically piggyback on the engine air filter, the in-line oiler goes in before the compressor, i slipped 3/8" hose in to 5/8" to make a reducer for the inline oiler. i'll get you a picture tomorrow.
connections to the a/c compressor are by the stock hoses, you have to cut the aluminum collar the holds the hose on to the metric connection (there's a name for it but i can't recall), then you just slip either the rubber heater hose (intake) or the 3/8" air line (discharge) and use a hose clamp to make the connection.
discharge goes to the tank under the bed, i put the pressure switch back there. then made some simple brackets to put the air chucks where i wanted.
wiring is extremely simple. fused power to a switch in the cab, then to the pressure switch, then to the a/c clutch and ground.
i'll get some pictures tomorrow evening if you'd like.

anyone sell a kit? front range no longer has it listed and kilby makes stuff for heeps
daves has a kit 99$ http://www.davezoffroadperformance.c....php?f=3&t=825 but doesnt look like it has an oiler or seperator or am i just not seeing it??? id much rather order a kit that has everything ready to bolt on instead of driving all around my small town getting the wrong size fittings etc etc hasstles.

My setup is somewhat similar, but to eliminate the heat problem I simply used the output line from the condensing coil instead of coming directly from the compressor and the air arrives at my coalescing filter (that separates the oil from the air) nice and cool...
Then (at least supposedly) the oil drips down to the bottom of the bowl on the filter where there is a schrader valve that, shall we say, leaks just slightly and allows the oil to go back into the intake line for the compressor.

|ROLLIN33S||Ok here is my newbie ??, I'm kinda new to the Yota world, I have a 94' yota w/o a/c what exactly do I need to put OBA on it besides- a/c comp, brackets, and basically everything included in Front Range Offroads kit. Also can I just run a switched/fused hot wire to the compressor for power or do I need somethin else to power it.|

|WHEEL N TOY||You have to disconnect the plug and insert the jumper wire. The green wire with the yellow tape on it in the pic above is your jumper wire. It is just wire with two male wire connectors on it. Let me know if you have any other questions. You can also get fittings here http://www.onboardair.com, however I did get mine at a local air compressor store.|

Next, you unplug the the A/C pump clutch power wire and wire the Regulator in between the two wires. I went to the recking yard and got the same connectors of another toy so I didn't have to cut the wires. I just ran the wires and plug them into my connectors that were already there.
Clutch Power wire ------- pressure regulator --------- wire to the A/C clutch.
The hoses are stock A/C hoses with the ends cut off. I picked up some A/C hoses so I woundn't have to cut mine.

|pickeledpigsfeet||did you look in the plumbing section of home depot? i was just in my local HD yesterday and bought a lot of 1/4 and 1/8 fittings to plumb my OBA. Even my local OSH has a large selection. you wont find push fittings but all the normal npt stuff will be there. THen for the regulator, filters or couplers you will need to go to the tool section.|

(home depot sucks for this stuff) So my next closest are Grainger or Lowe's I have never been into either store (sheltered life) my question is at Grainger can you buy things single if you go in or do you still have to buy packages of 10? Anyone been into Lowe's do they have a good selection of brass fittings so I can do this with one stop?|

For the hose.......... just take it to a hydro shop that can make hoses and have them cut the condenser fitting off and crimp a 1/2 npt fitting on it. Way better than hose clamps

|4RnrRick||I use Parker Push Lock hose. The hose has this printed on it: PARKER PUSH-LOK 801-6 WP 1.7 MPa (250 PSI) - 10mm (3/8) X 1F 83QO2. The cost on it is around $1.14/ft thru my work so retail its probably a bit more since they buy it in bulk from a hose supplier. Basically its industrial hose and Pete and I have had NO problems with it, so thats why I'm using it.|

For Project Blu (didn't oringally have AC and is a 85 truck), we got a AC switch from the wrecking yard and plug it into the factory harness. Then we had to jumper one wire behind the dash since the "AC contorl" was not there and then you just plug the AC compressor into the factory harness under the hood. your you could just wiring in a 12V+ fused toggle switch to the magnetic clutch.
As for adapting the AC Pump for barb fittings, I just weld a steel fitting to the AC Pump hose adapter plate/bracket, thus turning it into say 3/8 npt and then I just screw in barb fittings and your set to go.
