DZ Fab | Rear steer has been great. If you do a lot of crawling, I would recommend doing it. I can't think of a time that I thought "I wish I didn't have rear steer". I can think of plenty of times with my other rig that I thought " I wish I DID have rear steer" though. It's pretty cool the stuff you can do with it.

rcracer951 | Cool good to know, debating building a 9" steer axle instead of just going full float because the price difference isn't much if I can run stock shafts.

DZ Fab | I've gotten it up to about 55 MPH. No issues with vibration. The yokes are synced and angles are equal at the t-case and pinion so I'm not expecting any problems out of it any time soon. The u-joints seem to be holding up just fine with how I use it. The offset is right at 15 degrees, so I don't imagine that to be enough to really wear anything out even if I did drive it more often at speed. Maybe if I did more go-fast or highway type of driving.

rcracer951 | How fast have you driven it so far? Wondering how your rear driveshaft vibrations are with the offset diff?

Went to Clayton, OK and had a good time. Swapped out my lowers to 2.5" 7075 after bending a couple of them pretty bad on the last trip. The YJ did fine. Wish I had more power. The radiator sprung a leak on the last day at the crimps so I drove it back to camp and parked it. Next update will be the 4 cylinder and SM420 coming out and being replaced with a 5.3 & auto. Most likely a 4L60E. Attachment 2932460 Attachment 2932462 Attachment 2932464 Attachment 2932456 Attachment 2932458 |

More action photos from our Wolf Caves trip. Didn't get many of this thing, but did manage to sneak in a few photos. Will post a couple videos also later. Attachment 2918006 Attachment 2918008 Attachment 2918010 Attachment 2918012 Attachment 2918014 |

Finally got around to installing the 1550 shafts in both axles. Pretty cool to see how much larger of a spread these shafts have vs the standard 1480 shafts. Also below is a photo of the tools I used to swap the shafts (impact not shown). I’m going to put together a tool roll with all of these same tools to keep in the Jeep full time so I don’t have to pull them from my box every time I go on a trip. Finally got around to making my rear "tailgate" panel. Used .125" aluminum, bent the corners on a press brake, then hammered the edges to give them a rolled edge. I used stock Jeep tail lights to try and keep some of the Jeep "look" to it. I'm not crazy about the round LED look like I used to be. Chopped off the factory Weatherpack plugs and used Deutsch plugs instead. Turned out pretty clean IMO. Attachment 2912932 Attachment 2912934 Attachment 2912936 Attachment 2912938 |

DZ Fab | Biggest thing is to know what it feels like when you are bound up and know how far you can push it before parts start breaking.

sleepsontoilet | I thought you got new ones and were running them? I'm sure I'll be way lighter and much smaller tyre, but mine are sticky and behind an LSJuan so who knows how long they'll last.

DZ Fab | The 1480’s have held fine so far, but I feel like I am living on borrowed time with them. The last 1550’s I had were mistakenly for the F-450 axles (longer inners and outers) so I sent them back.

sleepsontoilet | How are the 1480 holding? The other 1550s working good?

Replaced my master cylinder with an E-350 version. The Dodge 2500 master was hanging up and not letting my brakes release properly. I already had the E-350 master, so it didn't cost me any extra to make this swap. Also re- plumbed my lines from the master to the axles. Went with the nylon lines this time which was cheap, quick, and easy. Used an off the shelf brake line from Vatozone to adapt the master to the 3/16" nylon lines. I cut it in half and used both ends on the master. Photos should help make sense of this. Also ordered 1550 shafts for both axles. Not a whole lot to report on this thing. I've driven it around a little bit, but other than that have just moved it in and out of my driveway and garage for other projects. I did grab a cool photo from above the other day. Attachment 2899348 |

Here is the result of my buddy Scott (blay127 here on Pirate) asking me to bump him off a rock he was stuck on. Guess my bump was pretty strong. Got him off the rock though! ![]() ![]() Attachment 2821986 |
