k20chevy454 What's the price on the pinion delete cap?
09-30-2016 05:29 PM
harley9703 I know this is kind of silly but during my Raman noodle days while I was paying off the bling, I shaved the chunk down until I got tired of grinding. Had one taken apart and cleaned up and it was what I could work on.

I weight it and it was about 2.5lbs of shavings. Worth it? No. Would I do it again? I would have to be saving or bored... It sucked ass.

I wish an aluminum Chunk wouldn't set me back 3-4K or I would think about going that route eventually.

Years from now.

harley9703 Worked on the back glass a little bit more.

Steering column piece for my down bars

Almost there, ended up scoring this window surround for free.

harley9703 Cutting the small bearing pinion off

That end piece was 1lb

All in all I'm going to be able to loose all this rotating mass

Pinion delete cap

Doing a little test fitting with the bling bling...

We're reworking the pinion delete caps, to eliminate one less spot for oil to leak, and to keep mud from seeping in. And the large and small bearing pieces are being cut.

Dropping weight were I can.
It surely shimmers like stainless.

Cobb460 I'm very interested to see how this truck turns out. I am doing a very similar build with the exact same truck. Only difference is mine will be on Dana 60's. Keep trucking man

harley9703 I have a few poser shots, but it's bringing the build closer to the end.

Got FOA 18" coilovers, still need the springs and 2 need to be rebuilt, I'll probably go through all of them.

Also got the rest of my 4-link rod ends, jam nuts, and tube adaptors...

Also finally picked up a bed liner to act as the bed on the truck. Basically a light weight bed with tube work underneath it, to hold a little bit of weight (battery, fuel cell, tool box...

While I have the bed sides bolt to the frame work to look as though the beds complete. This is just one side propped up.

Also finally took some pieces off the chunk of the Rockwell to get cut by my guy. Pretty excited to see the outcome...

Not much weight, but it all adds up... Little Rockwell diet.

harley9703 Back in its mall crawler former glory days, I had a cut through with 4) 10" speakers (was going to do 8) but I lost interest... Fast forward 10yrs and I've lost interest in all that gay shit and actually want to hit some holes hard with a fully functional 4x4...

So I plated up the back of the cab with the tool box lid I previously posted.

Inside view

Back seat still sits over

All bolted up, also ended up using aluminum bolts. Had these from a previous project, figured they'd work out pretty good.

harley9703 Wasn't impressed with the last ones I cut, so I found some scrap 1/8th aluminum and cut out a few inspection plates for my rockwells now I'll be dropping a smidgen of weight on the heavy bastards.

It was about to much for my old school band saw I was using

I ended up scoring it for free, and think it's a wood citing bandsaw, but I ordered a metal cutting blade

Last pic, they didn't come out too bad.

harley9703 Ordered a sheet of dark lexan for the rear glass to give it a tinted look.

Tracing it out.

I cut it out of cardboard, but I don't remember using it as the template, I think I traced straight from the window.

Both sides cut out, plans are to keep the center glass.

Last, are my "steering column trim" pieces lol, well they're clearly not for a fire wall or a hot rod, haha...

harley9703 I know it's not really a big deal, but I think they're cool...

My 3" PA to a JC 2" BL

I won't be exposin as much of my frame.

10-08-2015 06:34 PM
harley9703 I know pirate isn't much for body lifts, so I'm proud to anounce I'm taking my 3" Performance Accesory BL off, in place of a 2" billet aluminum JC Customs BL

I gave him a few measurements and a picture of my composit puck, and he had mine cut that same night... Pretty cool. I downer is they're a little bit heavier.

So I had him polish it a little and throw his logo on it.

He's got a new CNC machine and is down to work with me on new stuff, so the 4x4 is going to start having Rockwell pieces cut. Starting with this side inspection cover plate. I was messing around in the garage and cut this out of some scrap I had laying around... (Downfall is it's 3/8" thick and heavier/uglier than what he can do)

My ugliness

A little bit of grinder action.

rclark12 This build is insane !

harley9703 I gathered up a few brake items for the rig, I'm going to run wheel brakes, and I Have decided to run a pinion brake as a parking brake. If I don't X the idea all together... ( if I push through my wheel brakes, they'll get yanked for my pinion brakes)

Patooyee was grateful enough to cut me some brake adapters to mount rotors to my rear hubs... It's a real Close design to his pinion brake the cuts. He was talking the idea down for the size tire I'm going to run (53's) with the size dia. Rotor I ended up going with 12.19... A 14" rotor would be a better match for the size tire.

Only plus I have working with me, are they are a billet 6 piston caliper to keep down on caliper flex (4 piston superlite) and to have a better bite. The 47 vane make them a heavier rotor, but they'll cool better if I hit them a lot.

Going to safety wire them too

Also got my RH lugs in.

I'm really in need of a drill press, and on of the next tools, that and a tuning bender are on the to get list...
10-03-2015 06:27 PM
harley9703 Alright guys, don't grill me too hard, but I tried to accomplish a task that was to large for my small garage and angle grinder. Haha

I need some more tools for the garage.

10-03-2015 06:15 PM
harley9703 Figured I should open it up like I'm doing every other part of the build, any thing that can slow airflow was removed and is being ported...

Strength ribs had to go

Since this isn't sitting on its side and being used as an exhaust they're not needed for integrity

Also I know this is about the same as taking a shit before a ride, but I dropped a little bit of weight. Lol

And next for the exit side of things

10-03-2015 06:09 PM
harley9703 The stock Lightning/'03-'04 cobra blower is a 1.8L blower some 4 bangers aren't even that big... This 6-71 is pretty damn big!

10-03-2015 06:06 PM
harley9703 Figured I'd give you a comparison of a stock Lightning/termi blower, beside a 6-71

A good bit of difference

10-03-2015 06:03 PM
harley9703 Looks like I'm going to get a tubing bender, I was going to let a friend do some tube work for me, but it seems he's too busy, so I guess I'll be getting a JD2 bender in the near future...

I ended up picking up some motor plates for a mod motor

The trans
