H8DWINGS https://youtu.be/n98ja12IcXw?t=958

Watched this for 1 minute and it pretty much nails how it feels to get past the "fear of missing out" and now how I feel when I wake up. Heck, I might start buying beer to give to people late at night just for entertainment.

One thing I gathered earlier from the podcast was Chris Raab is talking about going to a music festival sober when he'd always gone on shrooms and excstacy. His buddies said they'd keep it away if he wanted but they "liked to party" and Chris didn't care. he said they smoked a joint and had a few beers and he was confused cuz that wasn't partying to him. They said "these are the party favors and the atmosphere is the party. For you the drugs are the party." which is pretty true for me and alcohol. I'd go RIGHT back to full drunk if I started up again. It might take a week or month to get there but I'd be drinking 6-9% beers on the couch all night in a hurry. fucking weird to think that too.

Chris Raab has apparently been sober 10 years. I guess the Jackass guys were into doing drugs a LOT more than I ever thought. Chris Raab was about 29 when he gave it all up.

Yup. I remember those days. I'm 35 and it wasn't so much that "I got too old" or "it hurt too much" I decided it wasn't worth it. At 26 you'd have more cash to blow on other things and make your friends wonder how you afford them. $10/6 pack, 7 nights a week, 4 weeks a month. $280/ month right there. I still don't have that money anywhere but somehow I can afford some other things like tools or savings. Shit adds up quick in a savings account.

What could you do with $5,000 next Thanksgiving? You could save that in a year without drinking.

That's how you do it. Put in the work. For me it felt odd to almost need to tell myself no like I was a child. Eventually it goes away and you get too busy doing stuff without having a beer you forget people do stuff with beers, or wonder how things get done. This thread is FULL of guys who quit drinking and got more stuff done on rigs in their garage because of it.

182 days so that's 6 months right? I thought it was in two days from now. AT least, I THINK I quit May 20. Last time I wasn't even sure when Memorial Day was.

You can do it man. One second/minute/hour/day at a time.

Every morning I wake up feeling a little better than the day before. Makes me glad I didn't give in the night before

H8DWINGS Today was my first day back drinking. It’s almost 10:30 pm and I’m usualy in bed by 8 or 9 on weekends because I get up early. Not tonight and I know it’s because of the drinking. I had some after my r7n with second breakfast and again around 3:00. Fucking caffeine is keeping me awake after not having any for two weeks. Either that or the fish tank screen saver is just extra exciting.

Bring what you've been drinking.
Realize you're going there to hunt not drink.
If you want to go sit in the woods and drink yourself to soreness call it "drunk party week" and not "deer camp" since the only deer you'd see are right here. No I'm not resizing them cuz I don't know how.

"Deer Camp"

I hadn't done the math in a minute so I decided to check. 2 years, 6 months, 5 days without a drink. Time flies. I remember when I couldn't get 2 and a half weeks without drinking.

Still rebuilding my life, but its unbelievably different than it was 2.5 years ago. People who haven't seen me in years don't even recognize me. Life is good.
That's awesome, Nick. Working my way in a positive direction myself and its motivating to see others doing well at it. Still need to hit you up on some workout stuff. Now that winter is setting in, I plan to hit the gym a lot more.

My back was fucked up long before I fell off the wall. I had a laminectomy L3/L4 and L4/L5 in Oct 2017. Just 4 months before that. I was just starting to feel good when I endo'd. I fractured T10, T12, L1, L2, L3, L4. And smashed my sciatic nerve pretty bad.

In January of this year I had the same laminectomy all over again. Except this time it didn't do shit.

I saw a physical therapist a few months ago. After a 20 min exam he looked at me and said "the surgery didn't work because its not in your back, its in your hip". The sciatic nerve runs through the hip in the "femoral triangle". Well sure enough he was right. I can bend my back any direction and it doesnt bother me, but if I move my hip/leg just right I get shooting, burning pain in my foot. I need to find someone who can help me with it knowing that. The PT just seemed to make it worse for the most part.
