BigGreenMonster | I am not butthurt about anything... I have had that feature for 4 years or so. I really do not care if you use the feature or not. Honestly, all it does is shift the reason for the accident. The dummy that rear ends you on the phone is gonna rear end you anyway because they were doing something else.

It'd sure be funny if some obscure IP patent troll actually owns this and makes a mint off Apple (even more so if they only found out Apple is doing this via the "yay us" advertising all these years late to the party). ![]() |

If you are gonna make everything a padded room, I would rather all vehicles come standard with a breathalyzer. You want to stop folks from using their phones while driving? Crank up the 6 point reckless driving tickets. They are 6 points and 500 or so bucks. Plus, they wreck your insurance. Those will wake folks up. No new law... Not app you can turn off. |

great that you and I have the willpower to put the fucking thing in the center console and leave it, how many 20 year olds do you think do? it's a simple solution to a problem we all bitch about. that's common sense. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/13/h...ones.html?_r=0 Quote:
You and I didn't grow up with them, the youth today has, they are addicted. I don't understand why you're so adamantly opposed to a technological solution to a problem brought on by technology. |

papee | The sad thing about this is that the people who really need this feature installed will not use it. It's completely worthless unless a parent could activate it and it couldn't be unlocked by the user.

lots of studies have shown the phones/social media/texting have an effect on our brains like that of drugs. The phone dings and your brain wants to look at it. remove the dings, no more desire to fuck with it. a simple voluntary restriction that solves a problem, how is that not common sense? |

Read the article... Did not see that part. So, not only is this a nanny feature, it is a stupid one. If you are going to actually use this "new feature," then you probably do not need it. It is a shame people cannot download a common sense app |

actually that's one spot where apple has gotten it pretty right. You can't simply restore a phone if password has been set. It's more an anti theft thing than anything else. |

82_toy | it is just an option you can enable. Say you have kids, you turn it on, set the password to it and they cant be distracted by that.
06-06-2017 12:06 PM | |||
fullsize80cherokee | It won't prevent anything since most the dumbasses who look at their phones and drive will just disable it while they are driving, this will probably make it worse. Distracted driving should be the same or worse punishment than drunk driving since it's statistically more dangerous and causes more accidents and fatalities.

Of amusement is that while many cities in MT have cell regs and did it within the past 5-6 or so yrs...MT didn't have an open container law until 2006 and theres still counties that want exemptions added to the law so farmer Bill can drink his beer on the way home from the fields. |

Easily bypassed by turning off GPS and Wifi when you get into your car. Isuppose if you BTto your car then it would need a workaround otherwise riding a skateboard, bicycle, Taxi or bus would trigger the response. This would have to be an opt in item because there are far too many variables for it to have any accuracy in implementation. |
