I am not butthurt about anything... I have had that feature for 4 years or so. I really do not care if you use the feature or not. Honestly, all it does is shift the reason for the accident. The dummy that rear ends you on the phone is gonna rear end you anyway because they were doing something else.

Not sure who was first, but Blackberry had some form of it back then too. I know my last Android phone had it built-in from the factory as of 5+ years ago.
It'd sure be funny if some obscure IP patent troll actually owns this and makes a mint off Apple (even more so if they only found out Apple is doing this via the "yay us" advertising all these years late to the party).

If you are gonna make everything a padded room, I would rather all vehicles come standard with a breathalyzer.
You want to stop folks from using their phones while driving? Crank up the 6 point reckless driving tickets. They are 6 points and 500 or so bucks. Plus, they wreck your insurance. Those will wake folks up. No new law... Not app you can turn off.

Common sense tells you not to fuck with shit while you are driving... Phone, radio, gps, food, maps... But if you are already a good driver then you do not do this.

when my kid is old enough to have a phone that can call and text, he will also have a job so that he can pay for it.
at that point, it is on him to not use it while driving. like stated, it is easy to work around and pure bullshit that this was in response to a lawsuit

It won't prevent anything since most the dumbasses who look at their phones and drive will just disable it while they are driving, this will probably make it worse. Distracted driving should be the same or worse punishment than drunk driving since it's statistically more dangerous and causes more accidents and fatalities.

Given the fact that more and more cities issue tickets for distracted driving and/or use of a cell while driving it already on its way, and Id bet that most of the tickets given are to folks 35 yrs old and younger...
Of amusement is that while many cities in MT have cell regs and did it within the past 5-6 or so yrs...MT didn't have an open container law until 2006 and theres still counties that want exemptions added to the law so farmer Bill can drink his beer on the way home from the fields.

I'm guessing it uses bluetooth connectivity to determine if you're in car, much like it's "find my car" feature

Easily bypassed by turning off GPS and Wifi when you get into your car. Isuppose if you BTto your car then it would need a workaround otherwise riding a skateboard, bicycle, Taxi or bus would trigger the response.
This would have to be an opt in item because there are far too many variables for it to have any accuracy in implementation.
