Unfortunately not any longer. The time and $$$ involved compared to the amount people want to pay is not worth it. Most of the time I was spending 1-2 hours reverse engineering their part and then another hour for setup on the printer and configuring settings. Not as point and shoot as I'd like to print carbon fiber filaments. Each piece was costing between $120-$200 in time and materials at bottom dollar rates because they're one-off design and print items. Each roll of 500g or 750g of the material is about $75 so unless you're doing it for yourself it's not cost effective at all. People just don't want to pay for this stuff.
I'd highly recommend Fusion 360 for modeling, a Simplify3D license, and buying a FlashForge Creator Pro or similar equipped printer and going from there.

I'm wanting 4 sleeves made to slide over my RC4WD (Bomber) King shocks to make them look like bypass shocks. I've looked everywhere and cant find what I'm looking for. Shapeways has them for the Traxxas UDR but unfortunately they are to big and to long for my application. If your interest in making some up for me, shoot me a PM.

|67StingrayJ||ok, tell me, how well do these parts hold up? Honestly? I been looking into this for a long time and eventually the technology would catch up to the performance standards of RC. Are we there yet?|

|gtxracer||Kinda late to the party but I printed an entire car from PLA and ABS. Later used CF Nylon and reinforced ABS for beadlocks, arms, and bulkheads. Still wanting to try printing a MT wheel.|

they work fine.

I've also seen some very impressive structural aquarium plumbing parts made too.

People are printing change gears for lathes and they're holding up fairly well. This alone makes me want to buy a printer.

I was thinking about doing some of this too. Are the 3D printed parts strong enough? or do you guys only print non functional parts?

3d printed parts
just wondering if anybody here prints their own parts or scale items. I have been playing around with a printer the last 6 month and now i am starting to design my own parts to add to my builds.
A drum brake i that i designed to fit tight on the axle and the wheel i am using.
