I had a guy I'd never met offer to deliver them and maybe in the future we'll go wheeling together.
I can easily buy booze for other people, have booze at my house and not drink a drop of it, and even joke about drinking all the beer in the house with my wife knowing I'm not going back.
I don't even remember what it feels like to wake up still drunk, or hung over.
I notice no one at social gatherings is drinking to get a hard buzz or "party" like I did. I guess I was "that guy" who always showed up to get drunk and tell you he isn't drunk and knows his limit.

I ran (literally) to a 1 year old's birthday party over the weekend. Walked through the house and said some Hellos and saw people being offered a variety of alcohol in a "DIY/Serve yourself" fashion and thought "it is a 1 year old's birthday party? wtf?" and kind of remembered some people can have 1 beer with lunch and maybe catch enough of a buzz off that, or just like the taste and know they're not going to drink 5 more before leaving. I could have hung out longer but I had axles coming and I didn't want to make the guy wait. I'm not sure anyone who showed up to move axles could have done it if we'd been our former "party all Friday night" selves.

Later that night I met ANOTHER dude who is building a buggy and even he said "yeah I don't drink but I'll still bring some beer just in case I need a favor or something."

I'm STILL waiting for that guy who parties too hard to show up to events. I think I leave before he shows up because my son's bedtime is too early. Maybe that guy is busy driving his kids home researching Dana 60 rebuilds and saving up for links or some bullshit like that.

Hahahahah, my lady even said "arnt you glad you didn't drink last night before you had to unload those?"

Those fuckers were HEAVY.

It was awesome meeting you man. I look forward to you gettin em in so we can go wheeling.

It was a pretty bad choice for me. I ended up buying a jeep along the way which now costs me more money, gives me more physical and financial pain and keeps me away from family probably MORE than beer did. When I was drinking I'd never think "Lets spend $1,200+ to buy something to store on the side of the house and not use until we spend MORE money on it."

So there.

Bunk Thanks everyone.

My bio dad was a alcoholic so I saw it growing up.

I didn't start drinking daily til I was in my early 20's. By the time I quit (39) I was drinking 6 16oz beers a day and since I worked 4 10's I would drink 12 beers thru the day and usually 3 screwdrivers in the morning friday/Saturday&Sunday. I did this routine for well over 8 years and no one knew.

I quit because of what happened at koh 2010, it was the wake up call I needed after hating drinking for multiple years. I never sobered up that year at koh, I showed up with 8 cases of red dog, a half gallon of jager, 2 fifths of vodka, a half oz of weed and a 8th of mushrooms. And finished it all in 11 days.

I know the reason quitting was fairly easy this time, after dozens of failed attempts before. I was thinking non stop of the new 'racecar' I was building for koh'11. It was a thinking of beer override and I didn't realize it was important til later on. I never shook or had tremors but I did get migrains for the first time ever, about 10 in total over the first 3 years.

In summary, your brains prom needs to be reprogrammed to not think of alcohol, to not think of where your stopping to get it, where you can drink the first one, when you should have your last one cause the parents are coming over....that crap needs to be removed and replaced with something your passionate about. Then you can start living again.

COcamper Congrats on 10 years Bunk!

64Trvlr- I know you have a bunch of years under your belt as well, and to you, I also salute.

As I read both of your comments, I was reminded of something I posted in this thread a while ago (I think it was on my 1 year anniversary)- I have yet to hear ANYONE say quitting drinking was the WORST decision they ever made. Not that I need it, but it certainly doesn't hurt, thank you guys for once again confirming I've made the right choice.

I personally am thankful you guys with a lot more experience in this area chime in and offer your support, it means a lot.

As ADD said, this thread offers a very unique "support" system that is awesome! One I truly treasure as I know there will be no BS and folks will tell you how it is, not always easy to find in today's world.

I haven't enjoyed my life this much in as long as I can remember. Having good people from this board, and thread in particular for support is awesome.

H8DWINGS I’m not sure what I could sell the 9s for though. I mean....I guess what I paid for it since it came with a spool and 4.56s gears in one and the other has a broken third member with some 3.70s.

Also passed on a kingpin 60 in Cool with a Ďfreeí rear axle. $1,300 with steering and itís probably gone already.

I went to bed at midnight trying to figure out how to take apart a factory relay harness and kind of learned after spending the $15 to get it I could have just built something like it for about the same price, and I should have stuck with the Volvo fan for simple wiring to the Volvo harness than gone with the Taurus fan. Oh well I would have spent that money on beer and not gotten anything out of it so I donít care. Oh and I woke up around 5:30 am feeling like I was almost hungover thinking Ďtoday is going to SUUUUUUUCCK.í Around 20 minutes later I felt fine. SO much better than being up drinking beer to midnight then waking up on little sleep.

Oh and my FAWKING 9 inch third member is broken. I just wanted to get the spider nests out of it. Previous owner either dropped it hard one time or some broke shit. It also wasnít 3.89 gears it was 3.70 based my MY math. I could be wrong.

I always need to go back and read it which is funny because I find it similar to mine. I still make jokes and get the "yeah just without me" response. I also see how little "normal" people drink compared to me and I'm still waiting for the guy who drinks too much to show up to the party and he never does for some reason. It's like fight club where you never see Brad Pitt and Edward Norton in the same room at the same time. Right now I'm Edward Norton. Brad Pitt hasn't been around in a while...but occasionally his influence on making stupid decisions like "let us purchase a project" comes through.

I was the same way. It's taken me until this month to sit down on the couch and feel okay with doing "nothing" but watching TV. Two nights ago I was up watching Four Wheeler TV (recorded so no commercials) until probably 11:30 then woke up around 4am thinking "great. today is going to SUCK" because of how little sleep I had. WAY easier than I expected and WAY easier than doing it hung over.

Since it's V-Day I spent about $80 on the wife because I'd have blown that on beer and I'd already put a few bucks in savings after buying axles. Plus I got her a gift and she didn't get me one. I didn't even have to play the "oh you don't have to get me something. I just got you this because..." card.

It was kind of odd seeing all the $25 Eclipse Beers I'd have been wanting to buy sit on the shelf yesterday when I bought the wife some Prosecco for an upcoming spa day, or for whenever she wants to have mimosas. I was just walking around eyeballing all the beer thinking "oh I'd buy that. Oh that's a good one too. OH SHIT A 2016 BCBS BARLEYWINE!!!!" and I never had that itch/urge/craving to buy one and sit in the truck or the garage or tell the wife "well I've been doing good. It's just ONE. For a special occasion." I guess every day without alcohol is my special occasion.

EDIT:

I was probably drunk when I wrote that. I understood what you mean. I think all of us are realizing that 7:00 is when we'd start drinking heavily for the night because there wasn't enough time to do anything. NOW we can put 2-3 hours of work in and get 6-12 hours of work done during the week instead of wasting the time drinking beer talking about how there isn't time. It's literally the same as hearing "This is General Chit Chat. No one here wheels."

Congrats man.

I ve been following your other thread. Good luck on the job search.

Your headed the right direction, ignore the BS distractions. Always amazes me how people will shit on someone for a Deuce even after they turn their lives around. Especially since I know at least a dozen cops who consistently drive over the limit on their off time then turn around and lock people up for the same thing.
