At 7psi, these tires squat pretty good. It was mostly dry but there was some snow and lot of ice. Front locker got me up a couple icy hills easily keeping two tires on grippy stuff. Still waiting on the groover.
Can’t wait for more snow to fall.. this truck with me and my pup in it scale Just above 5000 lbs. I’m trying to keep it as light as possible but there only so much stuff I have leave at home.

Studs work really good on the ice that gets under a lot of trails and on the roads getting to the trails. They also help a lot when the rocks get all wet and slimy under the snow.
I've run chains in the snow when it wasn't too deep. They really helped but they dig. When it's only 2 feed deep, they really work great. When it's 6 feet deep, they only work if someone has made tracks that froze over hard then turned too slick to get any traction on.
I know a lot of guys make fun of snorkels but in your case, it sure would have been a nice addition.
If you aren't afraid of cutting the fenders, I think bigger tires would really help you. The difference between 35's which most brands only measure around 33" tall and a set of real 37's is a lot. That's 2" more under the diff and a huge difference in contact patch.
I'm working on some ideas for mine but my other half keeps telling me to fix the snowcat so we can wheel more and winch less...

Got my truck back together and ordered a front locker. Where’s that 18-19 thread at? Gonna be gnarly!
I’m beginning to think I should mount a winch on the rear. Even if it’s just a smaller winch like a utv sized one and run a snatch block with it.

Just got my truck running again. Dropped in the Replacement engine after work today enough to fire it up and it runs smoothly.
Stoked to get out in the snow again.
Not sure if I ever got a for sure answer on this, are regular tire studs any help while snow wheeling aired down?

Unfortunately, I still have some issues. I have a pretty severe rod knock. Replacement engine is ordered. Hopefully will have her running soon. Probably won’t make it to moab in a week like I was planning but I could go in spring.
Well I was plowing through some rad snow, came up to a water hole. I made it through it, but I ended up st a really bad angle in the next one. I didn’t see it until I was half in it and half out of it, at a pretty bad angle. I couldn’t reverse, so I turned hard into it and hammered the gas, I had enough gription to plow into it and level out. But it was up to my hood. She started running real rough and died. Tried to winch myself out forward but with no charging system i hardly loves before out of juice. Didn’t want to drain the battery completely dead. Phone was needing a charge, and never know what good a little battery power can do for you. So I hiked up the nearest hill, about 300 feet away and got enough service to make a phone call to my dad to come out to save my ass. I can only think of the negatives of this right now, although I’m very lucky I didn’t end up on my lid in the hole. I’m bummed having a hydrlocked and permanently damaged engine, needing a huge cleaning, and needing to be rescued (I prefer to do the rescuing).

GOD DAMN this was in my crank case
I got stuck at 1030 pm. Made a fire to stay warm, truck was full of water so it was shorty inside it. Called for help, help got there at 1230 ish, once help arrived we worked straight 10 hours to get me out. Got out at about 1030 am.
Iím supposed to leave for Moab in a week so if my engine is good Iím going to try and get this thing whole again.

315/75r16. Basically 35x12.5x16
My thoughts behind the studs are the super icy hills. And studs are more practical than chains on my mt01s. Thinking I’ll see how the falkens handle in the snow, and see if their bit of siping and low pressure will get me going. If not, I may have to get some studded shit. A front locker would do me good too.
Here’s what my tires look like. Should do ok in the snow but theyre not siped that much. Could add siping but don’t want to compromise their summer rock abilities.
I’d like to try to throw some gorilla tape on the bead and see how it treats me.
I priced out duratracs today and I’m looking at 340 each. Plus studding. Yikes

Cooper used to make the M+S snow tires in a 35" for 16" wheel but i just looked and they don't anymore.
last snow season i ran 2 wraps of duct tape on inner and outer beads and never lost a bead even with flat tires.
duct tape is a must with no beadlocks

This was one of the last snow wheeling days I was out on last year.

My most epic snow day.
Over 4 feet! It was up to my tits when I stepped out and the truck was sitting on 2 feet ish
There are lots of steep rough hills around here that get iced up so I’m curious if I should find some super sipey studded meats. Like studded duratracs.
