Max Volume 3.07 8" case is offset for the tall gear ratio. It can not be regeared.

Toyota third member question

I searched and couldn’t find the answer i was looking for. So here it goes, i bought a 84 Toyota third member to build for my project. When i had bought it it had 3:07 gears in it. I swapped them out for 5:29 gears. Got the third and put back together and went to do the first mesh to see the pattern. One problem arose, the pinion isn’t contacting the ring gear. Slid the carrier over as far as i could and there’s barley any contact at all. So to get to my question, did toyota possibly make housings that offset the carrier to house the higher gear ratios? That’s all i can think of that would throw it off that much
