|CSP||The 4" you read about was for a narrow track FSJ axle. Yours is wide track.|

Confirm Axle Dim? Before I cut....
I'm doing a D44 Flat top install on my CJ using a FSJ Cherokee D44 front Axle...
Before I cut off the drivers side to shorten it, I want to confirm my dimensions....
The wide track D30 for an 84 CJ is listed at 56". I'm assuming that is the distance from the hub face to hub face.
The FSJ D44 is listed as 56" (10" more)
My CJ springs are 27.5" center point to center point.
8.5" from the center point of the spring to the center of the upper ball joint.
44.5" from CP of each ball joint.
On my D44, it'm getting 51.5", or 7" more.
10.5" from the center point of the spring to the center of the upper ball joint.
I have everything apart so it's a bit hard to measure the rest of the stuff.
I'm assuming because of the above dimensions, the rotor face sits about 1.5" out more than the D44 vs the D30.
I will NOT be outboarding my springs.
If I want to keep the drivers side spring position the same as the stock FSJ, that means my wheel will stick out 3.5" more. I don't want to do that.
I already have SOA so it will be easy for me to move the position over 2" to keep my knuckles in about the same position. Which means my wheel will end up about 1.5" out more than current. I can live with that.
I've been doing a lot of research on this conversion...and everything I read said 4" was the amount to cut off.
BUT....by my measurements, it looks like it needs to be at least 7".
Can anyone confirm this?
