Just the dirt roads, straight woop-d-doos, donuts in the fields and such. No rock crawling or mudding yet. So... I guess you could say it's just a street queen still.
Still have some work to do for some real suspension work out. Front fender needs to be trimmed back some. The tubing is already good to go because I knew it was an issue. I just did not get back to the fender and well yet.
There is actually a bit of welding to do on the underside. I want to change the drive shaft braking disk a little. Hell, even the trans mounts are not welded up completely. I always get excited about the next few things on the list.
yep...and now i'm off sidetracked with this trailer. Some say it's the story of my life. I can't finish a thing, get bored and move on too quickly. Probably true.

It still looks a little tall.. But, it is deceiving, the leveling jacks are jacked up way high, probably 4" higher then it will ride.
But to easy my mind a bit I, added some 2" wheel spacers, giving a 4" wider stance. I am not a big fan of wheel spacers, but in this case, it's a 7500lb capacity 8 lug axle. I will be surprised if the trailer is much over 2200 lbs.

Here is a mock up of the Maxtrax, shovel, axe, and jack mounts. It looks a little rear end heavy, but its really not. There is still plenty of weight in front of the axle, even without cargo.

OK, I think I got the tire mounting issue cleaned up. It is mounted onto a spool and then to the chassis with a large T handle. No more nut buster. Just lift the tire up a little past the bumper and slide it on up into place.
I will most definitely change the vette to do the same.

Not to start a wife bashing thread, but... I always say, building and creating things in the shop for 8 hours is way healthier than scrolling thru your phone for 8 hours. Even if there is a few beers involved.

Yes. I'll see how the spool mount thing turns out. I might be able to clean up the back of the Mutt when not carrying a spare. Although, some folks liked it, at least during Halloween, "looks like a spider" was a typical comment.
I did not plan on carrying a spare all the time on the Mutt, just long trips. The Pod will always have one.
I'll post in two weeks or so. I have to keep the wife happy and get some other house projects taken care of. It's all a delicate balance you DON'T want to mess up.

Seems like you could have the spare frame attach to the Mutt or the pod. Then you don't have the bare frame sticking up on the car when you arnt hauling the spare. (Unless you plan on a spare for the car and for the pod.)
I guess if you haul a single spare on the Mutt, you could lower the tent more.

It's looking like I can lower the tent about 8".
I'll have to use some sort of spool that will stay with the spare tire so it can just slip right in and not up and over studs like on the Mutt. Which I should of thought of earlier.
Probably RW this set up if the trailer comes out well. Just to avoid the tire change being a ball buster, or a two person job.

You have pushed me over the edge. I bit the bullet and purchased the Terminator X MAX.....ouch!! Now the spare will have to wait some.
I will definitely keep you posted. Not sure when I can get to it. Never worked on the motor with the body on. It will suck. But I am sick of keeping a high crappy idle when it when it has a nice cam in it.

I am still having a hard time finding someone to give C3 Mutt a good tune.
No one seams to want to touch a third generation PCM with resistors jumped, a hacked up tune, and running (8) injectors instead of (2). Some wouldn't even want to tie it down to the dyno if they could tune it.
So... I am about to pull the trigger on a Holley Terminator X MAX. A self learning ecm that is all the rage lately for LS swaps.
Anyone have experience with them. I have not seen any bad reviews. But they are expensive as hell.

I have started to work on a tent support. Now it is looking more like an off road camper trailer. Maybee
Here is the first attempt. The tent floor would stand at 6' 4". Much higher than I would like to see but...
Pro - You can walk under the tent area that folds out, making a bigger aux room.
Pro - still would fit in the garage.
Pro - a little more bear proof. At least that's what I tell my wife.
Con - makes the trailer a bit top heavy. The hard shell tent is 230lbs!
Con - Kinda looks silly. I would love to see it retract to 1' above the hood. I am sure that would feel much better driving it around. I am still thinking of ideas but all have been too complicated, just asking for trouble.
After I get the spare tire worked out and the hinges for the hood, I'll see how much I can chop it down.
The tent is actually a few inches smaller than the rack. Making the rack a good rub rail for trees and such.

I think I would almost have the electrical supply needed for a few minutes of pushing. The pod will have (2) big dry cell batteries and (3)100w solar panels along with the alternator help from the C3-Mutt.
As far as getting stuck, I think I'll be OK having a 9k winch on the front of Mutt, and another one on the rear of the Pod. Plus, MAX tracks, high lift jack, chain come-along, shovel, and all that recovery jazz.
Getting out of being stuck is the fun part, right? It's the mechanical or electrical failures that are no fun. A silly fuel pump could mean a long walk...oh wait , no, I can jump on the C3-Grom and go get some parts.
Now I am rambling. Still a lot of work to do. It sometimes feels like a life time away.

Didn't realize you were going to do the exo thing on the pod, especially on the front. Wouldn't think you could hurt the front to bad towing. I guess it ties it in visually.
Just day dreaming. Wouldn't it be cool if you had electric wheel motors on the pod? You could have a heavy cable/plug between the pod and the car so you power the motors with the alternator. They would freewheel most of the time, but if you ever got stuck, you just hit a switch and get an extra push from the trailer.

I did nibble at it some this weekend. It is still pretty rough.
My neighbors kid wanted to help, so I gave him a grinder and I said "have at it". His response was......... go figure.
