[486] finally got my head poked into the skid steer I bought far enough to see where the HUGE amount of oil was coming from
yup, hole in the block
oh well, we'll see if it can be patched once it's out

75' Forty Was bidding on a crashed Ducati desert sled (2018 with ~3k miles).

Needed new frame ($1.4k for new from Ducati) potential to just re-weld the tail section as it broke clean i'd question how straight the rest of it is at that point with a good wack.

Then cosmetics more or less past that that equated to $3k.

Auction fees double the bid price and once i did the math for rough estimate of replacement parts, if i went any higher on the bike i'd be $5500 into a $8k bike without damage which starts being the tipping point of is it even worth it as it'll never be worth premium price with the title.

Could likely save some money by buying take off parts and piecing together all of the odds and ends or shopping for a deal, but that begins to become a bigger headache in the grand scheme.

Too far to go inspect in person and would be a day off from work. Kind of disappointed as if i got a street bike that would be it and this was already the year/color i wanted which was a bonus.

Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg area is real rough for that weekend, I wouldn't recommend it.

However, if you came during that time and avoided the main areas and just took a ride to Deals Gap via the new Foothills parkway you would have a good time.

the new Foothills Parkway which goes from Sevierville right to the Dragon is FN amazing. The road took 70 years to complete. It is a great ride.

PM me if you want me to send you the route to take. If you want to get a hotel I would recommend Maryville as it is right below the Dragon and will not be very crowded that weekend.

Fire it up and it spins way too fast and doesn't start.

Check the compression and Zero on the 2 I checked.

I should have just scrapped it before dumping more money and time into it.

This is the first bad engine I have ever gotten from a junkyard. I guess I was due for one. I called them to see if they would just refund my money if I brought them the car as I do not have it in me to pull it out again, they didn't sound real interested.

aczlan Stopped on the side of the road today and picked up a Champion 3500W 120V/240V generator for free.
Exhaust valve was out of adjustment, needs a muffler, a voltmeter and a air cleaner.
Started up on ether (cranking it over with a drill), ran on the gas that was in the tank, made enough power to run my 1500W heat gun as a test load.

Now to see if I can find or modify a muffler for cheap...

Once I swapped the pins mine worked perfect.
I think the software is loaded, again it was a stuggle of DL and zip shit- it lets me open it, but that was it. Cable lit up when plugged in, but the cd that came with it seemed to want to load shit too, that did not seem to load right. IDK

LZLRUN K+DCAN cable from amazon.

Yeh no desire to go flat bed. Bed is not shot shot yet, but has some soft spots. Time will determine what I do.

Just money right....

CEL came on on the BMW on ride home from work, cool get to play with INPA and the new cable I just got. False/fail/not gonna happen. I am computer stupid apparently. Can not get it to connect.

Plus side of multiple vehicles.... guess I need to drive the Grand Cherokee tomorrow... shucks, heated steering wheel it is.

Glow plug controller caught fire and was replaced with a pushbutton? Yeah, computer doesn't know it's gone because I deleted every trouble code associated to the module.

Yea I know it has awesome capability, I just don't know it yet. Pretty sure the software did not load right somewhere alone the way.

I was born in Fort Worth. Parents, grandparents and great grandparents are all from Bridgeport TX. All buried in the same Cemetary in fact. Same one I'll be buried in when I'm done.

Dad was Army Air Corp in WWII and stayed in through 3 wars.
So I've lived all over the world, but North Texas has always been home.
I moved back to Texas from California in 1970,(my Senior of High School was in California.) so I am a born and bred Texican!
All my kids are Texans too!
AND TF, you are on the money about those peeps in Austin.

Give me a choice between a 2019 whatever and 1980 exciter Iíll take the exciter everyday. I have a blast flying through the twisting trails around here. Fuckers I ride with all have 100hp plus sleds. I just need to hang with them tight trails. The fields and lakes I donít stand a chance lol.

I really want to transplant a phazer motor in a exciter chassis. If I could get it up to 65 hp I think it would be perfect. A neighbor of mine is dropping a big power plant in his 80ís exciter. He has his own sled dyno and the motor makes 130hp. The exciter will be a sister to a pair of Polaris centurions that each have over 110hp each.
