clb 017 For the taco with a lefty....I need a new idler gear, the factory gear was cut down(read lengthwise) to thin it into the lefty case, the cut down bearing journals were not flame hardened and mine spun a bearing to the point of 3\16" depth.
I need a set of front section gears that drive the front axle.

As to the flat towing deal....
Has this excerpt from the faq changed???

This one was for the 83 hilux, it's doubled , as it was flat towed with both trans and t cases in neutral.

Does this flat tow pertain to the lefty also as its plumbed backwards?

BigMike Hey clb 017,

I set ya a PM regarding the log-in issue.

About flat towing, this has been a strange discussion because even Toyota does not have the correct answer: 1979-83 owner manuals say to leave the transmission in 4th gear and run the t/case in neutral while 1984-88 owner manuals say to do the opposite. (I may have these flipped; It's been a while since I looked this up.)

Nothing changed mechanically that would suggest one is preferred over the other, so Toyota probably switched to the option that results in less wear and tear. So in our opinion either method (trans/tc in 4th/N or trans/tc in N/2WDHI) is acceptable.

As for the Lefty, may I ask why were you trying to reduce the diameter of the idler gear?

clb 017 Well I was hunting stuff apparently not listed, somehow my log in info was not recognized,
I was asking about flat towing issues the salesman did not know details, ( what needs replacing once you tow out from buck to Wentworth with d line attached) I was not able to get any info on a lefty(I was the guy asking about turning down an idler gear) And I forgot to mention the 8% thingie on a $400 order

I did get logged into the site again but called in the order as it was easier.
