That is 20577 out the door.

Thinking about something for my 16 year old daughter now.

155 of them on the lot. Easy to get a 19K out the door deal on a car that's been there for 4 months. That was not the one we bought. May go back for that one for my daughter, as she drives my other daughter back and forth to High School.

Coming from someone who's sick of working on sh*t, and knows how much newer stuff costs to fix...

Kia is very temping if for nothing else the warranty...

5+ y/o, ~50k rav4/crv are 10k-12k all day. Run to 100k and sell for 7-8k. A Korean whatever would be less due to stigma. Hell, you can buy a dan near near escape for 12k.

Youll have minimal maintenance with less initial cost, and better return on resale. So overall less per mile.

But it's not a new car. All different strokes.

My 2018 cheap as tradesman model 2500 was $45k, I had to relax my butt cheeks a bunch to pull that much out for new diesel pickup $40k for Hyundai car That seems like BMW money to me, but I haven't looked at car prices in a long time.
the 3 series starts at 45.

and that's not one you actually want.

the difference is that a 45K kia/hyundai has every creature comfort, navigation, all the shit.

edit:
I drove a x1 as a loaner.
it was an abomination. was not impressed.
the x3 at least had the motor going in the right direction, but still did not impress.

Grendel When I lived in Korea Kia was the second largest car and truck manufacturer, independent of Hyundai.

I went back in 2009 and they're still all over the place.

They make some really large trucks... but they're all complete utility.

This thread is surprising.
Kia has been great cars for over a decade, from reliability standards. The early ones (when the 10/100k warranty first started) had issues as the owner-base was basically buying a used car, and treating it as a used car. Problem was, the cheap car mentality refused to do regular oil changes, and, especially 'forgot' to replace timing belts. And those were interference engines. So 'Boom'. In early 2010s / late 2000s Kia started switching back to timing chains, so no more boom. Around that same time, Kia introduced better features, more dynamic style, and the owner bases started changing to a more upscale buyer (more like Nissan / VW / GM) whom actually did oil changes and such.

Go back in time, and Kia was a HUGE producer of Bus chassis rigs, military rigs (with Jeep like rigs) and commercial/military trucks. edit; they're still around if you google Kia Military or Kia Bus

For a few years now they've prototype/design-test built a truck or two, but didn't see the market. The Borrego, was a full sized (Tahoe) SUV with V8 and flopped horribly (one year run only). Magazines thought it was a great rig, but dealers had issues selling it. That added failure surely slowed down thoughts of building a actual Titan rival truck.

Regarding the out of warranty engine repairs, both Kia and Hyundai had issues with the new generation direct injection engine castings, and have been generous with warranty replacements. The pre-DI engines (conventionally fuel injected) had no issues and don't get the warranty love. Seems to be in the 2011 to 2013 time frame.

Hell yeah. That's a solid move. My mother in law bought her car from Hertz 10 years ago. It's been trouble free.

seriously. Go touch the interior shit in a new kia and then go touch the interior shit in a comparably priced domestic. The kia is nicer.
the infotainment shit is absolutely better.

then when they don't sell because americans like you think they're cheap foreign shit, they slash the prices. Look at the current kia stinger offers.
I agree, wouldn't hesitate to buy a new kia for a beater daily. they are about as good as you can get in that segment provided you go into it knowing it isn't going to be anything more than a beater daily driver
