|KidJethro||Not that seal...the lower one in the bottom c. Right under the bearing.|

next time you install the king pin, leave the seal off. the seal is pliable enought to straetch around the king pin after it is installed. I did this and to this day, no leaks!!

|Scott F||Try calling some bearing houses. They often carry seals. It would help if you can get a number off the seal.|

I had already tried the long lugnut method...twisted the lugnut in half.
Anyways, I found a 7/8" allen at Osh in Chico. $15. Stuck a 5' cheater on it and had the kingpins out in less than a minute, no heat required. Here's a pic of the allen with the bottle of Newcastle and the keyboard for size reference-
And the fucked up kingpins-(big pic warning)
Unfortuneatley, I fucked up one of the lower kingpin seals trying to get it iinstalled, so I couldn't get it finished. It's a bitch to do layin on your back and looking up at it. Anyways, no one in town had one, so where the hell can I get just the seal? Every place I called wanted to sell me an entire kingpin kit. Any vendors on here? A dealer?

Try your 7/8" socket with one of the following for your 7/8" hex:
1) Cut the end off a long, wheel lug nut ( on your rig or tire shop)
2) Use a long all-thread nut ( hardware store)
3) Use a long spring u-bolt nut ( on your rig or spring or alignment shop )

|mxracer33x||Get ahold of me, I can either loan them to you, or you can get a 7/8" allen from OSH in chico. They have them in the hardware section, by the bolts, not in tools. Approximately $20. I took mine and Cut off a few inches, and used it in a socket for removing after breaking loose with a 5' pipe/breaker bar. With the allen key and breaker bar, no heat was used and it came loose very easy. PM me for my info if you want to borrow my stuff.|

Napa also has cheap prices on tools
You can probably buy a socket for less than $20

|KidJethro||I might just give up on it till after x-mas...That way I can grab some of my 3/4" drive stuff when I go home for x-mas. Trailerguy is probably gonna hook me up with an impact socket, That way I can do it right. Thanks for the help and suggestions.|

Where the hell do ya find 7/8" hex stock?
|12-23-2005 01:05 PM|
go to your local machine shop ,,, we all have stack nuts laying around from the mill hold down sets, there a 7/8" hex and weld a bar onto the top of it ,,
|12-23-2005 01:01 PM|
What about a 1" piece of 7/8 hex stock and 7/8 hex socket slipped over it?
Or i guess if you found the stock you could get someone to bend it like Billa..
Got one for ya but too far away

|Trailer Guy||I know that I'm all the way up in Redding, but if you want I have a 7/8" allen with a 3/4" drive impact that I use on them. A little heat and a few hits with a 3/4" impact gun and they zip right out. I have a brother that lives in Chico coming up here for Christmas and I could send it back with him. Then just ship it back up to me or get it back to him. Let me know.|

Anyone near Paradise/Chico wanna rent me a 7/8" allen socket or wrench??
Unfortuneatley, my kingpins need to be replaced- no getting around it, they're scarred up pretty bad. I need a 7/8" allen socket or wrench to get them out. Tired of breaking tools. Heated the piss out of the c with a torch, tried the lugnut method and broke the lugnut. Numerous other attempts have failed as well.
So, is there anyone in the Paradise/Chico/Oroville area that wants to lend me the right tool for a couple hours? $20 or a 12 pack of your choice for your trouble. I work for Jesse at HAD, and my truck is in the HAD shop, so it's easy to find.
PM for my cell....pleeeeease!
